  1. "modern day person"

Classic case of the mentality that causes manchildren to believe in "ascended masters" etc.

If you want to see the end of where classical non duality can take you, check out Frank Yang.

If you want the highest consciousness possible then take psychedelics and contemplate.

Or ideally mix every spiritual practice and find you like in a way that makes sense.

  2. If you quit spirituality your business performance will be worse. All that concentration and cognitive gains will do you wonders if you build a business or study something really hard.

I'd personally reduce the amount of time you spend practicing and fill in the cognitive difference with some nootropics so you still feel great.

Speaking from experience because I've done the same.

    Partially True.

There is part of our biology that yearns for athleticism and with out it addiction like smoking are used to satisfy that basic human need.

Yeah, speaking from experience I definitely need regular excersise to not get addicted. The body needs to be transcended before the mind. Unless you are doing psychedelics, of course. But even then it matters a lot.

When I dont workout, run, box etc I will quickly want to watch more tv series, drink more and a lot of other things.

You might wanna look into habit formation theory.

I would advise against this. It's too much, too fast. I guarantee you will quickly lose motivation, burnout, and revert to your old habits.

Start slow. I suggest as little as 5 minutes a day. After a while, once you genuinely feel the desire to spend more time meditating, gradually and slowly increase your time. Begin with increments of 5 minutes. Eventually you'll get there and the habit will stick.

The correct approach is to increase by 5 - 10 minutes every few days until you get to the desired amount (speaking as someone who has a very solid meditation habit - a few hours most days, sometimes more). I did that. The trick is to slowly get used to the discomfort so much that you wont want to move during the session anymore and maintain wakefulness during the whole session.

When you get to 1.5h without a break this way it wont feel long at all. And you wont even have to have much discipline to meditate 3h a day because you will see a ton of benefits from all that concentration.

  5. Probably some dukkha nanas.

It's an important part of meditation. Continue and it will disappear. If you went to a Vipassana retreat now you might get a cessation.

When you get to a further phase where this doesn't happen anymore it will return again in time but you'll be able to get out of it faster.

But it depends on what kind off practice you're doing. If it's purely concentration then do what the guy above quoting the mind illuminated said. If you're doing a Vipassana practice then listen to me and read a few sections from mastering the core teachings of the Buddha about nanas.

Also, I hope you're sitting without back support. If you're sitting with back support then you're drowsy because your form is bad.

  6. There are multiple kinds of jhãnas. The mind illuminated includes the easy kind. Also the harder types. But those are all the same kind of jhãnas - the samatha jhãnas. Those are achieved by focusing on a strong objects that reinforces itself and makes concentration on itself automatic. You can't access those without getting access concentration first and then switching to a secondary meditation objects - when the breath disappears.

Then there are different things called jhãnas that are more like jhãnic qualities mixed with Vipassana deconstruction. Those are not harder to reach but are not a purely concentration practice.

You can get an even mix of both using kasina meditation. So you don't have to worry about these details as much. You can get a nimmita very fast - specifically with the fire kasina (the secondary object). On other types it's not as fast.

    Too-long-didn't-understand(TLDU):

Either do mind illuminated or kasina.

  7. High concentration will make you learn much quicker, perform better in business, need less sleep and generally become a much more effective human. That should be enough motivation for an ambitious person.

You have to do it without back support and it has to be at least 90 minutes (or something like that). Preferably in a single session. Everyday.

You can feel like you're on something better than modafinil 24/7 and that's not even the high end. That's like 1% of where 2 hours a day can get you in the long term.

I'm getting to a point where I can't meditate in the morning because the states I reach would be too high to function properly. So I do a session before sleep instead.

  8. Not at all. It might build up your overall capacity overall.

If you want to use spirituality for material advancement read Advanced magick for beginners by Alan Chapman.

Actually I'd say you should practice that before diving deep into deeper realizations. Since you'll need a stable base to not end up a homeless mystic. It can be pretty destabilizing.

Get your finances, dating and health to a degree you're happy with and that is possible with your genes and then go all out on spirituality.

And reading a few hundred books on diverse topics and then applying them is often a prerequisite to even have a mind that's developed enough to reach the really deep stuff - you can't figure out the nature of reality if you have the mind of a teenage boy :D.

  9. Idk if this is just specific to my body chemistry but when I trip on the same day when I take modafinil it changes how modafinil works next time - it might become trippy pernamently.

It is definitely a good combo but do you really want to be in a trippy headspace whenever you take modafinil for work?? Who knows if the effects ever turn back to normal.
