@Scholar How is @Leo Gura's flawed when he's just imagining this scenario as a hypothetical to begin with??? What wouldn't be a greater deterrent? The death penalty isn't a greater deterrent than life without/with parole? So apparently the threat of death is lesser in deterrence than the threat of taking away freedoms? Again how is @Leo Gura making the argument of executing ALL EVIL PEOPLE? It's just the top 8-105 of Wall Street scammers that do swindles of up to 100 million dollars and more. In fact the OP is more making the argument, and @Leo Gura is adding his own opinion to it. While there exists various other arguments for why the death penalty is inappropriate in contemporary world, there's also an equal amount for arguments in favor for the death penalty. One scenario, a bit exaggerated, is in cases when the crime is so horrific, and mass scale, a serial killer that killed hundreds and raped hundreds of girls that there's almost a nation wide DEMAND for justice, in the form of a death penalty just because of the horrific nature of mass murdering and mass raping girls in not just one local area but a few others. Would you deny the nation's and population's demand of justice in this level?

@KatiesKarma I think you do have a point when most people from the atheist camp who are more stage orange/green outright deny the bible for ideological reasons, they do so due to them not wanting to read or try to understand the bible, and maybe some negative events within their religious family or religious community. On the other spectrum we do have more stage blue religious folks and more stage blue families that do read the bible a whole lot, again for ideological reasons and to fulfill their needs of belonging. It is true that both types can be dogmatic, an atheist in deep denial of religious truths while the religious folks are dogmatic towards non-believers. I think that we all need to be somewhere in the middle of this, and we all need to at least be reading and trying to understand the Holy Bible a bit, not all of it but some passages, and praying a bit. Psalms is actually a good place to start because at least reading the psalms is a bit uplifting, even new testament is a good start.

@Someone here Historically about 50% and more of Gazans have democratically voted for HAMMAs in power, and after that the USA/Israel had to virtue signal denial and not recognize the Gazan's legitimacy of that vote and instead launch major propaganda campaigns against them, calling them terrorists repeatedly. Basically if you zoom out, the distinction is like that of a people being passive aggressive and forced to tolerate invaders, versus some people who are fed up with invaders.
