@ZubPrem Imagine you have a dream, every tool in the dream relatively speaking may or may not be useful for realizing that this is a dream. Meditation practice, psychedelics are the tools in the dream. Imagine the character in the dream thinks that he has own agenda regarding this dream (a.k.a belief in separation). Meditation practice slowly dissolves this agenda. But if the character strongly holds to the beliefs that the character is in control, meditation alone is going to be very little of usefulness. Psychedelics is like a "flash" in the dream, imagine the appearance of the dream disappears for a moment, so true nature is seen clearly, but then the character may dismiss this realization. Or psychedelics may be like somebody dropped the character into a very different dream for a short period of time. It may help to realize that the hold beliefs is not true, on another hand it may force clinging to that very different dream state as the ultimate reality. Recommendation here is to use every tool that resonates with you. Psychedelics is amazing tool. Meditation practice is life-transforming tool. Use as many tools as possible until you feel the truth: there is no character, just dreaming.

@StarStruck From the practical point of view it's only about your happiness in daily living. Enlightenment doesn't change anything. Surely, be easy on yourself, no one can push you to a self realization. Relatively speaking, you should desire it more than anything else, so then it has a chance to happen. You may look into "Law Of Attraction", listen to Abraham Hicks, etc. It leads to the same endless end though.

Analogies only work till some extend. That's a good point though. There is only mystery after a self realization, every moment is seen as a magic. See it this way, now you think how the things should go, after a self realization you are "not-knowing". Every moment, every breath is met with love, as a gift from yourself.

No. Yeah, good contemplation. You just haven't noticed yet that awareness is always present. That's the topic of self inquiry, find where "mind" is.

Enlightenment doesn't change anything. That's already the case, you just didn't noticed it yet. Let me give screen&movie analogy often used by Rupert Spira. Before a self realization there was identification with a movie character. Then the screen is seen, call it glimpse to your true nature. Then the movie is realized as the screen: the movie is on the screen, experienced by the screen, made out of screen. After the self realization there is just screen, so the movie can be truly enjoyed, enjoyed for what is Before enlightenment: there is movie on the screen. After enlightenment: there is movie on the screen. It's basically very similar pointer: "Before one studies Zen, mountains are mountains and waters are waters; after a first glimpse into the truth of Zen, mountains are no longer mountains and waters are no longer waters; after enlightenment, mountains are once again mountains and waters once again waters."
