  1. Hey The first thing that came to mind was this post from years ago, where the person was taking the advice too mechanically and accidentaly making themselves miserable : The good news is that youre doing great. Passion is your brightest north star. If there is something you can allways count on, is doing what you're passionate about. If you are lucky enough to happen to deeply enjoy your medium, you take heaps of emotional labor off your shoulders. A "medium" refers to the specific channel or platform through which one expresses and shares their art or work. But if you play piano for fun , why do you worry about mastery? just keep playing when you feel like it, no need to pressure yourself with those standards. And you will improve regardless, and even more so because of the level you're at already. It would be a different story if you decided that you specifically want to become a world level pianist and and become a world wide recognize musician and teacher. Then, if your vision and purpose is compelling enough , and you find it meaningful enough , you would consider grinding and beginning doing stuff that isn't that fun in spite of it feeling like drudgery, like learning and studying music theory, different instruments, perfecting your pitch, perfecting your ear... These things would require a training schedule and showing up even when you dont feel like. That's where emotional labour would come in. The " balancing out " mechanism you're talking about doesn't work like that. It's just technically what's called " worrying ". Which is good. Definitely be on the lookout for bad things that could happen to you so that you can prevent them. Back problems , muscle tears , tendinitis, Repetitive Strain Injuries... You could do some emotional labor by working out your body and hands, wrists and back , neck to avoid injuries. Study ergonomics and proper posture if you havent already. I've recently discovered my own passion for music and have been teaching myself to sing for the last 3 years and guitar for 6 months, so I know what joy you're feeling. It's a healthy obsession. Keep it up, and keep doing films silly you lol
  2. You may have tinnitus. Its pretty common. It's an eternal buzzing sound. Not everyone has it. I have it so IDK what silence sounds like without the buzzing, or if absolute silence even exists. When you close your eyes you are putting a thin layer of skin on top of your eyeballs, which creates an imperfect blackout effect. You still can see through light creating different shades depending on the lighting and what you look at. Aprently real blind people get a better sense of what it is to not see anything at all, if that even exists. You're seeing Phosphenes. It gets more pronunciated if you close your eyelids and gently pressure your eyes for about 30 seconds. It gets pretty whacky . Dont hurt yourself These are still pretty physical remaks. See video : What is Perception for a more spiritual perspective, but that would be a different subsection.
  3. hey, welcome to the forum ๐Ÿ˜ When sharing your story with the purpose of getting some potential advice, its very important to be clear about what you want to get advice on. Don't worry, lack of clarity is very normal and it's something everyone has to work at in the beginning. From what i've understood, you are not satisfied with your people skills, have trouble opening yourself up and therefore struggle with making and keeping meaningful relationships, and often feel anxiety at your workplace because of technical procedures and not knowing how to create a degree of connection with patients? let me know if that sounds like I got it right, or you would want to add something else, before we elaborate further
  4. @Hugo Oliveira If you want personal advice you would have to be very specific with your situation. The best would be for you to make a new post, tag me and put some effort to explain your situation so people that are in a similar situation to yours can gain some perspective as well. Afer you've done that and it turns out its not enough you may PM me. I had gone through spirituallity induced depresion for a few years as well.
  5. Our love for beauty and beautiful faces is a strange loop Beautiful faces are valuable. Why are they valuable? Because they are valuable. Ofc it has social and economical benefits , but why? It has those benefits because society values beauty. And why is beauty valuable? Because we value it. It serves no information about fertility or survival value. See golden ratio in faces: https://youtu.be/teaBK6YEQi0?si=pZUqyvprST_pfN7b Another take is that there could be some higher inteligence behind the efficiency of the golden ratio, and therefore evolution is pulled towards it. Reallity is extremely efficient. @Leo Gura
  6. @NoSelfSelf Thanks for the perspective but the point of this thread as th title says is understanding the raw instinctual genetic attraction triggers females trigger in males and their possible evolutionary origin, not benefitial mental frames to get laid. What would be on topic would be contemplation the genetic evolutionary origin of fears like fear of female judgement, why does approach anxiety exist, or why do we crave sex
  7. He means it's a waste as far as mindf*cking spiritual insight for most people. For rewiring your brain for practical personal development focus and purposes it's as good of a remedy as there is for the endless stimulation this day. Just made a post on this few days ago. Possibly Leos mind is built different and doesn't struggle with focus and distraction like us plebs Also it's great self therapy as you dont distract yourself from your thoughts and it gives you room for working through recurring themes
  8. How powerful of a resource this would be? Navigating vast field tested experience almost in a research paper like manner while omitting all the toxicity and ego by using a search function based in field reports, maybe even somewhat like Leo's blog Index was created. This would be a perfect job for Reddit CALLING UPON ALL TECH SAVVY PEOPLE TO MAKE THIS HAPPEN. The future of the lower end of the masculine gene pool is in YOUR hands
  9. yes genetics play a huge factor but the point of this post is to focus on what you can control rather than throwing your hands in the air cursing at your genetics. microbiome imbalance is huge as well and i hadn't mentioned it in the main post. I still remember when I had candida and binge eating disorder. I had physically written a message on the palms of my hands to stop myself from walking to the store to grab ice cream and I was helpless. The most I could do was to stop for a few seconds before I continued walking . I observed myself moving like a brainless zombie. the gut is known as a second brain for a reason. When I dont take adecuate core 4 supplements I can clearly feel how I have less willpower, less focus, less motivation and i'm way worse at resisting temptations. so yes, to the previous list add consuming a high quality probiotic like water kefir ( check out my previous posts about it ) and adequate supplements if you suspect heavy metal toxicity ( check out my heavy metal detox journal)

  13. Actually just join weekly group activities that you enjoy and BECOME A REGULAR. Dance classes, theater classes, yoga classes, improv comedy classes, martial art classes, jogging or hiking events, toastmasters classes, sports classes... Join a choir , Volunteer for stuff... You can look up for local meetup groups or Facebook groups, or take initiative and create them. I've made good wingmen friends from pick up groups like the old RSD Facebook inner circle groups or Game Global city communities Once you do that you will passively meet people and ideally YOU would make plans together to further establish your friendship. The insights here is that you have to take responsibility for making it happen. Something the old me would never do. I'd never hang out with people unless someone reached out to me and invited me .And the cool thing is that you don't need force it on the first time you meet people. as you become a regular and chit chat over the weeks , common interests will show up with easy opportunities for hanging out. Get a dog if you like dogs, take them for walks. Take them to dog parks. Take them for hikes. People will stop you to pet your dog. You will meet other dog owners over time. Creating a social circle from bars and clubs is possible but not the best way. Also it's pretty advanced and forced imo. This video here sums up decently how you make friends by becoming a regular at places and activities . In reality it's even smoother. If you literally say a single word to a person at a gym every day or every other day you will eventually start chatting and become buddies. Even by taking your laptop to the same few cafes every now and then you will meet the entire staff and become friends. For some people you would have to put in more effort than others though. Also eventually you will meet your friends friends and family as well.
  14. I don't think you can unwire the need for socialization. It's one of the basic human needs. What you can do is meet your needs in a more conscious way that you enjoy more. Or get a disabled dog to take care of
  15. Edit: There is the archive https://archive.ph/2015.12.15-002931/http://www.rsdnation.com/forum There it is lol I swear if y'all don't make it happen I'll do it myself
