Even a truly an enlightened person will say he is enlightened to teach. I dont know why people use the word claiming, it only shows they are not enlightened themselves. As if you need every guy in the street to shout that you are enlightened to confirm it. You can definitely. If you are somewhat on the correct path and have a sharp eye. @Jed Vassallo A teacher can only course correct you sometimes but in the end, all work has to be done by you. A physical teacher is necessary if you are learning a subject, but in enlightenment, you are unlearning what is untrue. Id say stick to reading books by awakened people(hint : Jed Mckenna) and do what they tell you to do. If you are still not satisfied, go to spiritual gathering(preferably non dual) and ask around for teachers. -

What do you guys think is the difference between Neurotic and Non neurotic personality? Personally i feel Neurotic personality views life as "Making life work" as to the Non neurotic personality which views it as "Letting life work".

I wrote a book on Non Duality and Enlightenment and have published it on Amazon. I am currently doing research for my second book. It will probably be along the lines of Neurosis and Natural State of a human being. -

After truth realisation, I don't think one can move dualistically. They can appreciate duality but not be run by it. If there is still identification, the realisation wasn't total enough. -

Yes, its more like an apparent entity rather than a actual entity -

Yh if I am correct, you mean movement is needed to function but the movement is not identified with psychologically? -

Raw reality is that, Nothingness, Consciousness, Absolute Truth, and Unchanging Awareness ( as @Joseph Maynor says). Beliefs are only applicable in the dream world but enlightenment means getting out of it and realising that life is like a dream. So yh, if u want to realise truth, No belief is true, and you should question your beliefs. For functioning in the world you do need beliefs. The only difference would be you wont believe your belief if your enlightened. I dont if that makes sense. Self is a funny thing. It is like: (Believing in your life story which consists of attachements + memories etc) + (knowledge) = self -

I have been thinking about this. This is all something I came up with so take this with a grain of salt This will be based on the fundamental assumption: Enlightenment is the natural mature state and the natural development of an individual after 18 Ok so ill try my best to explain. Ill attempt to answer two questions: Q1)If Enlightenment is the natural state, why aren't more people enlightened? Q2)Why is it considered that enlightenment is for the old people who have retired and not for young? A1)Lets suppose a child(I'll assume he is a male for convenience) grows up in a healthy environment. His parents are emotionally mature, self fulfilled and have a loving relationship. They do not project their own troubles, insecurities and unfulfilled ambitions through the child. So no problem in the household. Also the child is given immense freedom so he is free to explore himself. Now he goes to school and naturally makes friends. His friend's parents are also like his parents. So other children do not have twisted desires to name call, bully etc. Everyone gets along well without any problem. Without any traumas or bad childhood memories along with the freedom which he is given, he will become a emotionally mature and self dependent individual around in his 16 or 17ish age. So around 18, why wouldn't he start naturally questioning everything around him? And ask himself, what is the nature of my existence? I think this happens due to three main factors: 1) Bad parenting 2) School which emphasises rote learning and success more than exploring ourselves 3) And other children who are not fulfilled themselves and don't get along for some reason A2) The biggest problem I think with school and parents is: They put self survival over self realisation. Due to this, adults, even when they grow up are not fulfilled and never really explore themselves. They are engaged in a self survival rat race. Either they try to live the rat race or they try to escape it by 'fun' activities like partying, drugs etc. It is only when their suffering reaches a point where they cant tolerate it, they start pursuing Truth out of necessity. At an older age when responsibilities are over and death is more near, people start questioning the nature of existence. ----------x-----------x---------- Thanks for reading Please share your thoughts on this guys

It has been 2 years since I was "done" as Jed Mckenna would call it. I would like to share some observations I have noticed. I know it is hard to believe someone is really done and you are at a leisure to believe whatever you want. This post would be worth it if it could help anyone. So here are the observations: These effects have remained permanent 1)The mind mostly stays generally empty or a distance is established between awareness and mind. There is no more identification with the mind. 2)The Body feels very light 3)The memories feels like only a heap of perceptions belonging to no one as there is no self left 4)The sense of self has expanded from being in the body to being everywhere 5)There is a natural flow to life. No more obstruction. 6) Continuously have to consciously pretend when I am talking to people. Consciously pretending generally goes on autopilot 7)The feeling of no self is like completely nothing being everything 8)Everything feels very ordinary and magical at the same time 9)Permanent death awarness 10)As the ego is not the self anymore, it is more adaptable and changeable 11)The questions have completely disappeared. There is no more seeking 12)Nothing is taken seriously. Life becomes a play 13)The only think I Know is I AM. Nothing is known other than this. Every other question can be negated as they are just based on assumptions 14)Total acceptance of the present moment. No more resistance 15) Free will seems to exist but belongs to nobody 16) Feels like Infinite Nothingness is all there is 17) Every moment feels fresh and new 18) SENSE of space and time are gone

I think suffering happens because we are conditioned for self survival not self realisation. Ending suffering shoudnt be the primary motive of this work -
Saumaya replied to mandyjw's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
Not exactly. Enlightenment means ego transcendence not ego destruction. Ego is still part of the dream so you will have thoughts, but they will no longer be an issue. The dream is not destroyed, the dream is transcended. -
