Constant awareness of breathing

5 posts in this topic

Thinking about this, what would happen if I was in a state of constant awareness of my breathing, like 24/7.

@Vibroverse You'll probably recognise sooner or later that it's not your breathing.

It doesn't matter whose breath it is really, or whether it is noone's breath, what I'm talking about what would happen, would be body and mind still be doing what they are doing without needing "me"?

When you opened your eyes this morning, was it on an in-breath or an out-breath?

we are literally God's name, continuously pronouncing.

@Vibroverse

You may start to take ownership of the breathing. Wherever attention flows, ownership goes.

Eventually you'll realise it isn't a breath that you are having, but simply a breath arising.

And if you're really focused, you may recognise that the sense of 'you' is only arising along with the breath, and has no independent existence at all.

And then after 70 or so years you might stop breathing, and if you haven't by then become enlightened, you'll pretty quickly find something else to attach to.

Apparently.
