Matt Walsh plays Videogames

5 posts in this topic

As an older guy now I am interested iin video games in order to explore that world but I am a bit scared that it will make me addicted and waste too much time. I can identify a bit with the situation of Mat Walsh. So I will watch him play video games.

Lol, it first looked like he was going to explain how bad the game was, but he seemed more disappointed in himself that he liked it.

Gta V has a really good storymode. I played it when it first came out in 2013. The online part is not as fun as playing the story imo, even though there is alot to do online.

So the big difference with storymode and online mode is that you can put an endless amount of hours in the online aspect, since there is no end to it. While if you play the story, you may be getting between 30-60h of playtime out of this particular game. Story driven games in general, is comparable with watching a movie or movie series. Once you are done with the story, you feel done with the game.

Try to stay far away from mobile games in general, as they often are heavily influenced by "gacha mechanics" that can end up costing you alot of money if you are susceptible to gambling in any way.

Do you mean with online mode the open world mode?

I mean that there is a big difference between the hours you will be playing depending on wheter you play online mode vs story mode. Both takes place in the open world of the game.

Online = unlimited potential hours spent

Story mode = 30-60h as a general expectation of time you will spend

I am prone to gambling and can lose money at casinos quite often. This is a fact, but I am attracted by the fact that I can win many times more than I lose. As for video games, to be honest, I don't see the point in pouring too much money into them, knowing that you can't win more money. That's why I prefer gambling to video games. I like to spend my money and get more.

Yeah tbh, there is no point in pouring money into gacha games. However, once you get hooked on such a game out of fun, you can then easily be persuaded by trying your luck to get some new fun toy that they hide behind a paywall. So it's a close if not identical to a casino despite the fact that you can't win any money, there is stil prizes. But I understand your point.
