@JoeVolcano You just described the process of all modelling. You take an abstract construct like "human development" and then you operationalize it ("how do we measure it?"). The thing in itself is never quantified, and arguably it doesn't even exist, at least as far as modelling goes.

Intrinsic joy is revealed in the marriage of meaning and being.
