orthogonal meaning

On leos blog from a while ago 'Sherlock Holmes brain' video, he mentions around the one hour Mark 

'Ive discovered an Orthogonal direction, & now i recognise that all these material & physical things were imagianed, but are actually figments if consciousness'..

Can anyone break down in simply terms what is exactly meant by this Word in this context?  Non linear?

@cjoseph90 Google says orthogonal means perpendicular. Or involving right angles.

In this context it means a hitherto unknown or unnoticed direction.
