Back Ache Whilst Meditating

5 posts in this topic

I feel as if I can't truly meditate because my back aches and I can constantly feel it...

I was always told to sit up straight when I was younger and now I wish I had listened :(

Is it going to take me years of straightening my back to truly be able to meditate?

Use back support, and/or find positions that don't cause you discomfort.

Nobody says you have to be sitting a certain way!

Ah cool, that is good to know.

I was in the traditional sitting on floor, back straight head up position!

Think I'll just sit in my chair and have the rest support my back.

Any position at all is fine. Some people with back issues fully lay down. Might make one more prone to falling asleep though.

You can also try sitting on your bed with a pillow propped up against the wall. That's my preference. :)

@Just Do Nothing I use pillows for back support. But try to keep a good posture. Once you get a habit, it wont seem very hard.

  1. Only ONE path is true. Rest is noise
  2. God is beauty, rest is Ugly
