What about Faith?

4 posts in this topic

It's common that in the east, it is understood that awakening is only attained by one's actions. However, faith may also play an important role. It is usually said that awakening chooses you rather than you realizing it, It just happens. May this be the missing spiritual key of East that the west has? What are your opinions about faith and the role they play in awakening? If they do play a role? How important it is? May also be a drawback in some cases?

Just wanna know your sincere opinion

Not sure where you have this generalized idea from, but as far as I have understood it, grace plays a major role in many eastern spiritual traditions. It is precisely the understanding that at one point there is no action that you can perform that brings you to awakening. It is the un-doing of all manipulation, the surrender of all thought. When one had a true glimpse into Truth, there is no need for faith. There can be real trust, coming from direct experience.

I find trust in reality, in God, in grace to be extremely important.

Faith is another word for (true and complete acceptance), when you do not accept reality as it is you have no faith. the problem with the far east religions is misunderstanding the idea of (doing nothing), they take it literally.
