Growf Journal

22 posts in this topic

So this is the first time i'll try to keep a journal. My main focus point for next months will be willpower/discipline. I am currently very weak at this point and it seriously affects my personal development and business work. So the points I want to take on are:

  1.  Quit smoking (Starting in 2 days, because of a party. Lame excuse, I know.)
  2.  Going to the gym 3 or 4 times a week. (Actually been nailing this one for the past 3 months! B|)
  3.  Sticking to a 1900-2000 calorie diet for weight loss. Only water and a lot of veggies.
  4.  Quitting my addiction to pornography and masturbation (No Fap).
  5.  Make 1 product for my business everyday. This is very doable and i've been slacking on this because of weak discipline.
  6.  Going to, and getting out of bed at reasonable times. Goal times: Going to bed at 11/12. Getting up: 8/9
  7.  Sleeping without my TV or Laptop on.
  8. Meditating daily, starting with 10 minutes for the first weeks.
  9. Keeping the house and my room clean.
  10. Updating this journal regurarly

I need to especially do these when I don't feel like it. Working out that 'discipline muscle' xD. The hard part will be actually doing these. Tried a lot, failed a lot, but I am feel like I am slowly growing anyhow.

Cheers

Quick update:

So today I went to the gym and I meditated for the first time in months. Kinda feel a bit sad after the meditation, but that's fine with me. I set a timer to 10 minutes and I thought the timer didn't work and that I was already meditating for about 15 minutes. I was only at 8 minutes yet. For the rest of the day I will continue focusing on my diet.

Hahaha, same thing here every time. If your doing one hour at like 30 min I think one hour has passed.

What kind of business do you have?

@dude

Haha, I'm not sure if I am ready to sit for 1 hour yet, but yeah, next time I will sit until the timer goes off hehe.

I sell dance music to DJ's who don't have the time or skillsets necessary to produce their own music. Great market, but i'm a noob at business. Everyone has to start somewhere I guess :).

Allright, the first update!

So I failed pretty hard on my discipline points. I smoke again, ate unhealthy, meditating daily and having an unhealthy sleep schedule. But I realized something too.. This failure that we all experience is actually as much part of the actualization path as anything else. I don't know anyone who sets a set of goals and kills them without struggle (unless you're already far into this path). So I will stay on this path and try and try and try again. It was a fun coincidence with Leo's latest video!

So for now, i'm in the wagon again!

Allright, second update!

I've been pointing out only the negative things yesterday, so I also wanted to point out that it's been 10 days since I looked at porn or masturbated. I know this is still extremely early in the process but I barely could past day 2 in the past. Also since the first post i've been drinking nothing but water!
Nothing else to add really.

New update,

I literally failed on every single point. I've felt extremely lazy lately and my discipline is so poor. Anyway, tomorrow is another day and I will keep on trying till the day I die.

@popi

It's good to see that someone reads it! I will continue with the points in my first post.

@Growf I recommend slowly adding the habits overtime and really focusing in on that particular habit. For me it's way more effective, otherwise I fail at one thing and then I say oh I already failed so fuck it and then I fail at every thing.

Looking forward to seeing progression.

Haha that's exactly how I do it; Oh didn't meditate today? Why bother eating healthy. It's stupid, but yeah that's the way it is atm. Thanks for your advice!

Had a good insight today.. usually when I'm about to meditate (whether it's in an hour or tomorrow or whatever) I am so obsessed with the thought: "I'm finally going to meditate". This brings a lot of restlessness in the meditation for me. Today without having thought I'm going to meditate to today, I just opened up a guided meditation on Youtube and just did it. It felt so much better!

We're on to the bandwagon again, no excuses :)!

Veey good. How do you remember every day that you have to meditate

? Usually I forgot things that I have to do.

I go with the flow. I trust my desires much often. My "shoulds" are far away from this.

Having a meditation routine is one of my biggest life's goals. I think that's why I remember it :)/

I have an idea, you seem to already have an established habit:

- Going to the gym 3 or 4 times a week. (Actually been nailing this one for the past 3 months! )

What if you add a 5-10-minute meditation point into your gym session at the beginning or at the end?

I remember having martial arts mats and yoga mats at my gym - they would be perfect for meditation.

Even if there are crowds of people there, meditation could be done.

I do it sometimes in the subway train ><.

All the best to you!

@popi I think it is from your upbringing and nerve system parameters -> some people are just grow up to be ambitious.

For the rest of us like me, let's meditate starting with 5 minutes a day and with years I gather awareness of the rational and the necessary would take the place of motivation.

@Growf Sorry for it if I am off-topic in you journal.

Hello! If i may give you any advice i think that you are demanding too many things at once out of youreself friend. When i started meditating i was for like 2 to 3 months doing only guided meditations but that way when i started meditating myself i started doing 30 mins and now after one and a half years i was at point doing 1 hour every day for like 2 months straight. On youtube serch for jason stephenson and start doing his medidations. I reccomend you do this asfirst as did i

Its great for maxing out your hype for doing meditation habbit really it was my first and at the end i cried teras of happyness for i knew that i found that what i have been looking for . Lastly about habbits try giving it a month or two to really set one or two habbits. Its better to have one strong habbit than 100 from time to time ones in my opinion. Hole it will help you friend !
