Shallow Breathing during Meditation

4 posts in this topic

Sometimes during mantra meditation my breathing gets really shallow and slow, Im just taking tiny slow breaths, feels almost like im not breathing at all.

Is this a good thing or something that should be corrected during meditation like tension and posture?

That can happen and it is generally a good thing. Unless it makes you feel uncomfortable.
I like to experiment around with that, take it to where the breath is virtually not noticeable, though I tend to get a little frightened there yet.

Good luck on your further journey. -_-

according to Alan Wallace and according to my own experience, it's good. it is the beginning of being able to discern more and more subtle tactile sensations, which is important for achieving shamatha. go deeper down that rabbit hole, I'd suggest :)

It is a good thing, there is a time where your breath should even stop completely and you will get absorbed in deep meditation
