Does Real Transformation Happen Here?

It seems, generally speaking (not excluding myself from this generalization) , that most of the forums is used for "finding other like-minded individuals to interact with" but simply leads to endless mental masturbation. And of course there's plenty of other variables at play other than just the forums that would attribute towards transformation - but it seems like trying to sift through everything that is said in hopes that there's one nugget of truth seems less likely when you account for the fact that there's no guarantee you'll even notice the nugget of truth. 

all in all, do people who achieve true transformation reside in this forums, or is this just another fly-trap for egos and the one's who have achieved self actualization and or enlightenment simply move on?

And how exactly would you distinguish the former from the latter?
You seem aware enough to know that you probably wouldn't recognize the truth if you stumbled upon it.
If this place is really just an arena for mental masturbation, then finding a way to genuinely contribute (apart from meta discussions) seems like a good challenge to genuinely grow. Aren't the worst places in the biggest need of help?

I've seen growth in others and including myself here. Growth can start out subtle until you compare longer time periods. 

There is a lot of mental masturbation and people need to go through that to see it. 

The question at the end of your post, the answer would be both. The forums has as much use as you give it.
