Learning to socialise.

3 posts in this topic

Hey guys, I'm new around here. I'm just watching one vid a day from the 'start here' section of this site to begin with. To day I was watching the second vid where that guy talks about different techniques for actualization & one of the things he talked about was learning to socialise.

I've always been kinda poor at socialising, & then due to two very bad relationships I've had in my adult life, my ability to socialse has 100% disappeared. Where would some of you suggest I begin to re-learn how to make friends?

Go take up a new hobby and join a public class. Preferably something that inherently involves communication and gets you loose and out of your comfort zone, anyway. Examples: improv, acting for beginners, storytelling, public speaking.

Sports will also work, if you're into that.

Another thing you can do just to practise is go to music festivals (with chill vibes) by yourself. Everyone is open and in a good mood, guaranteed success.

Yeh, flowboy has some solid advice there. Don't be shy, just go to people and start talking. You can start with something simple, like „This music is really amazing.“, which can easily break the ice and then you can just ask questions about the other person, make jokes :) Practice listening and humbleness, let everyone be your teacher.
