How To Make A Successful Youtube Channel?

5 posts in this topic

Im currently in filmschool.

My main interest is making comedy films. I tend to like creating shorter films better.

My dream is to after filmschool have my own youtube channel where I can post my films.

Besides from just putting out great content, how do you market your youtube channel?

I wanna do alot of research, if you know any resources please post them.

many many thanks :D

I recommend looking at comedy websites and YouTube channels like Channel Awesome, McJuggernuggets, and Cinemassacre because these projects started out from nothing with a very small fan base and they skyrocketed in popularity. Maybe you can watch the videos and observe how they succeeded so you can apply that success. What are your comedy videos focused on? What is your sense of humor? Maybe you can find a niche who appreciates your sense of humor! A great book for you would be "Steal Like An Artist" by Austin Kleon and "Show Your Work" by Austin Kleon. By applying resources like comedy YouTube channels, Austin Kleon's books and Actualized.org, you could create a great YouTube channel. I would love to check out your comedy videos! There are plenty of filmmakers who didn't go to film school, who funded their own films, and taught themselves to make movies and heavily consumed movies to feed their muse.

Most people that have become very popular on YouTube started it as a hobby.

They literally just enjoyed creating videos. None of them would have thought that it would be possible to earn money with it at some stage.

Their love for their work is visible in the final product. This is what makes YouTube special.

If you like to create short clips don't wait till you are finished. Start now. It won't be perfect. But! It will keep you on track. Motivate you while you are studying. Remind you of why you are studying all this stuff.

Your videos will continually get better. And most important you can receive feedback. Haha YouTube and feedback. First! Some of it will be helpful I believe.

You create videos to have fun. Put them out for free without expecting anything. If you expect to become famous and popular you are making it harder for yourself.

If you don't believe me search on YouTube on how to become popular. Lots of the people I watch have made videos on this topic. Most of them have said the same. I have just given you a summary.
