Concepts and enlightenment

6 posts in this topic

@Leo Gura You once said that being conceptual was your greatest obstacle of being enlightened. Does that mean that reading a science book or some other conceptfull book will slow down our path to enlightenment, because we’re filling our heads with more concepts.

"Not believing your own thoughts, you’re free from the primal desire: the thought that reality should be different than it is. You realise the wordless, the unthinkable. You understand that any mystery is only what you yourself have created. In fact, there’s no mystery. Everything is as clear as day. It’s simple, because there really isn’t anything. There’s only the story appearing now. And not even that.” — Byron Katie

Yes

The exception being that you will need some degree of conceptual understanding to avoid the traps common to the spiritual path.

Concepts are both your key out of the prison, and they are the prison itself.

You are God. You are Truth. You are Love. You are Infinity.

I think as Personal Development students and teachers, what we should be focused on is raising awareness of Conceptual Understanding, not necessarily promoting any conceptual systems to the exclusion of others as the one-sized-fits-all system for everybody.  BE-ing will tell you which conceptual systems are useful to your life.  Conceptual Understanding gives you the tools to solve complex problems that you gotta get from somewhere.  BE-ing will provide you with those tools, and just take them and stick them in your back-pocket.  It depends on what your Life Purpose is.  If your Life Purpose is to have a sustainable impact on complex systems that require subtle Conceptual Understanding, then for you that's needed.  If your Life Purpose is to be some Stage Green dude living in the woods, than maybe the more subtle conceptual systems are irrelevant to you.  But at the end of the day, you do wanna develop awareness of the Conceptual Understanding just to see what's going on there.  And this benefits your Enlightenment too, because you're not gonna get stuck in conceptual systems that impede your Enlightenment.  So, I think awareness of the Conceptual Understanding is what we should be teaching, and then let each Perspective cultivate whatever conceptual systems or otherwise that the Universe wants to manifest in them.  Not everybody has the same Life Purpose.  What's relevant to me may be irrelevant to you and vice versa.

@Leo Gura does that mean that stage yellow is moving us away from enlightenment, because it is full of concepts. Stage yellow is more conceptual than stage green, so does that mean it’s harder to become enlightened as a stage yellow guy than a stage green guy?

If stage yellow is not seeking enlightenment he will not find it.

Serious seeking of enlightenment plays a bigger role.

No. Like I said, certain kinds of concepts are very useful for avoiding traps. Green falls into many spiritual traps.

Yellow is in a better position to pursue enlightenment than Green. Green is still way too tribal and Tier 1.

You can pursue enlightenment at any stage.
