How do I avoid numbness in legs during mediation?

5 posts in this topic

Whenever I'm doing meditation by sitting on the ground (or bed, in my case) one of my legs will end up going numb with "pins and needles" since the weight of my body will cut off blood supply to my nerves. I've had times when I'm meditating but I've been paranoid about the numbness in my legs, and it distracts me. When I first started meditating I tried going cross legged, and that was quite bad for me. I have nowhere near the flexibility required to do a full-lotus.

Right now I position my legs as show in the image I've uploaded. Although this position causes less numbness, it still causes trouble. I'm not sure what I can do with my legs, since they are quite inflexible, but perhaps I have to try and change that. What is the best way to position legs for meditation?

Hark ye yet again — the little lower layer. All visible objects, man, are but as pasteboard masks. But in each event — in the living act, the undoubted deed — there, some unknown but still reasoning thing puts forth the mouldings of its features from behind the unreasoning mask. If man will strike, strike through the mask! How can the prisoner reach outside except by thrusting through the wall? To me, the white whale is that wall, shoved near to me. Sometimes I think there's naught beyond. But 'tis enough.

@lmfao

It’s the weight of the body on the crossed portions of the legs and ankles causing the circulation issues / numbness:

Try this one (below). After a while, the tiny hip and back,etc, muscles should be read for lotus.

Then in Lotus the cross is not bearing the weight of the body.

Also, using a pillow and seat generally like this, allows the circulation to continue where your feet are touching the ‘floor’. Consider using something like this, and the feet together position (Chris Fanning pic) , and bringing the feet in closer more and more, and working that into lotus by crossing the feet and raising the cross over time. My apologies if you’re also doing nofap. Excellent diagram btw.

Try supplement with Silica and or MSM they seem to help legs/joints adjust paired with yoga and stretching. I could never do full lotus before, only half but now i can easily since keeping those in my day to day diet/lifestyle.

Ever notice babies sitting in the most unusual positions or superhuman flexibility without any pain? I believe this has a lot to do with Silica.
