Meditation And Math

5 posts in this topic

i don't know about the rest of the people on this forum but i personally begin to feel as if i get some sort of meditation-like effect after doing math. it's probably the intense concentration that you need to do precise calculations. anyone else have that?

@Laputan Machine math takes the mind for a stroll and awareness of spirit is. There's a ton of physical benefits to brain development, such as math, as well. At the same time, it's all reducible to zero and accountable  back through the imaginations of a few people. Math is so weird like that. Like everything else.

I used to sit for hours and hours solving math problems.  I loved it.  I almost majored in math.

@Laputan Machine I also get some satisfaction when I do maths. It's quite different from pleasure I think.

"Not believing your own thoughts, you’re free from the primal desire: the thought that reality should be different than it is. You realise the wordless, the unthinkable. You understand that any mystery is only what you yourself have created. In fact, there’s no mystery. Everything is as clear as day. It’s simple, because there really isn’t anything. There’s only the story appearing now. And not even that.” — Byron Katie
