Solidarity is how you advocate for any minority or marginalized societally. We have much more solidarity for women today than a century ago, hence we treat them much better now. In contrast, Japan is more misogynistic. It's only in the last years that they rewrote their laws on rape. Women need their own train carriage to not get groped.

Broadly, cases of sexual assault go down as porn use go up, so it's likely a matter of access. 

Also, rape is a concept your bought into from your culture. Rapists don't believe its wrong, otherwise they wouldn't really do it. It's not so much a genetic predisposition towards rape as much as it is just towards having sex. If your not a rapist, you will have less sex. That is why men rape.
