I’m visual learner. But some people learn better through listening. It depends on your brain type. But if it is a good book I use both the pdf as the audio at the same time.

I use to think audio was better as well but I’ve had a good bit of personal experience since that has changed my mind. It’s the same thing with shorts. I think it’s good for getting a shallow understanding and you can dip your toes into a lot of stuff but a lot of it is passing through you. The herds are really pushing this form of learning cause it’s convenient in such a busy world. 

A great book sometimes needs all of what it’s about called upon and remembered at once in order to glean truly deep insights. The thing is I don’t think there are this many books necessary for any one person to be reading at any given time. A 3x rate would mean there is a boatload of books on a list worth it but I don’t think there are. I’d say a solid good book should last 6 weeks (or more) to really digest it. I’ve actually sorted my books into an audiobook category for the more shallow stuff but I’ve even found silence is better than this for insights. 

I’m very adhd and neurodivergent and I used to only do audiobooks because I thought I learned better this way. I was diagnosed with learning disabilities. It’s possible to completely reengineer your mind and lean into your unique neuro situation to achieve great things. It required an inner stillness to get to the point where reading was in my flow and also see that listening is inferior to a mind that sharpens itself through reading.
