Understanding religion

Religions have two components: the esoteric and the exoteric. To put it simply the exoteric is practical wisdom. The esoteric is existential wisdom.
‎I notice a lot of religious people focus on the exoteric to the neglect of the esoteric, which is, in my estimation, a mistake. Because while praying, fasting, and giving money to the poor and hungry, is good. This is relatively easy stuff, that's not what spirituality is about, that's more practical wisdom than it is existential. Existential wisdom means to annhilate the self, and live as God among men. That's the path of existential wisdom, the path of God realization, the mystical path.

You are correct . But all organized religions today have been completely turned into forms of social conformity and ways to control the masses and assure morality and law etc. The esoteric sects has become pretty rare if not extinct . What is the chance of you finding a serious Sufi naqshabndi order in Lebanon who will teach you serious Sufism which is about recognizing yourself in complete union with Allah ?  
 .We have outgrown religion by now even though the mainstream culture paints that people are still following mainstream religions. But as time progresses and advancement in social media there is more and more people coming to recognize the true essence of religious journey through way better advanced methods .
