Shamans were schizotypal, 'spoke to the dead or spirits, saw the future,....'

Rituals are OCD, washing, cleansing, purifying, ornamentals,  need to be perfectly clean, magical numbers, food rituals and beliefs, food prohibitions, prayer rituals. Freud, religion is a universal obsession of neurosis. Decreasing anxiety, collectively.

Martin Luther, suffered from anxiety, figured out the use of religion for this,

Fasting, anorexia, nuns did "holy fasting", starved themselves

Faith, gives a sense of agency and control when you're overwhelmed by not understanding what's going on.

People hallucinating patterns in things like Jesus on a piece of toast, stressed people that feel helpless see patterns.

Autism, 'God preserves abstract physical laws'

Prefrontal cortex damage, higher rate of mystical experiences

Temporal lobe epilepsy, obsessive writing, afraid of novel things, build close knit group. Saint Paul(wrote most? of the books of new testament)

No religiosity gene

Big gods emerged with larger societies

More problems in the society, more religiosity( from more mental illness?)

Religion keeps mentally ill away from substance abuse. Religion can protect people with these mental illnesses, they fit in the community. Mentally ill can still cooperate with the rest of the group, they fit in.

So, Leo is an overwhelmed autistic with temporal lobe epilepsy.... j/k

It's Myers Briggs but for religion....

Tell us about yourself. What have you lost on this forum if you are not spiritual? Are you a racist too?

Its an interesting take on OCD and religion and how religion helps the mentally ill.  But it is very superficial about OCD becsuse ritual is only one flavor of OCD. I actually have OCD and it is not about that at all for me
