Too many people are going to therapy according to this therapist

6 posts in this topic

What people dont understand is that you should be in therapy for a short period. People stay in therapy for like years or decades. They think its a life long thing when its not. It should be like a 4 week thing if its not fixed you or your therapist is doing it wrong.

If you are in therapy for like 5 years something is very wrong with your therapist.

Imagine you go to the doctor for a broken toe and you are still going 5 years later.

Shrooms can do it and you dont have to go back to the shrooms. That shows it can be done and they can do it in one sitting. The psychiatrist is there to figure out your imagination and thought loops. If they cant do it in 5 years or a year they are not a therapist they are a liar. They actually hurt you and made themselves part of your thought loops.

💯 This is great a great post and great advice. Exactly what I've noticed about therapy also.

Dude I get you're coming from a good place and i agree shrooms can be helpful. But you gotta watch it giving advice like that.

Taking shrooms whilst having bad mental health issues can be a fucking disaster.

I hate how therapy has become this sort of magical remedy for all emotional problems people experience.

Especially in dating. So much advice about how if you're a dude who struggles with women you need therapy. And its mostly nonsense advice.

Exactly. I've noticed people therapizing fucking NORMAL shit.

No, wanting to feel connected to your partner is not an attachment issue.

No, having an open calm discussion about issues repeatedly coming up is not "activating my trauma"

Not every uncomfortable emotion is a disorder. Not every disagreement is abuse. Not every boundary is avoidant. Sometimes relationships simply require vulnerability, accountability, compromise, and difficult conversations!

Therapy has incredible value when used properly, and with accurate language. Online use of therapy language is corrupting the whole thing.

It is far easier to fool someone, than to convince them they have been fooled.
