Jiangs latest episode was pretty weak in my op. Yes, the one in which he recognizes Trump to be an idiot while at the same time being a "dumb genius".

I've learned some good things from him overall about the Iran conflict so it ain't all bad. Another great show with interesting perspectives on the war for me has been the Ezra Klein show.

I actually watched Klein the other day (can't remember what video though) and found him quite helpful. Good show.

And yes, gotta use heavy discernment on that last Jiang video...

I think he's smart enough to bring the nuance, but sometimes he leaves it out, forcing me to wonder.

It still had some great insights either way. But this video was an actual gem, IMO:

I like how it goes really big picture. Not just news of the day.

The way Jiang talks about how societies evolve has helped me see how I act in similar ways to world powers in my personal life, and how to improve my own results. I might create a separate thread on this if people want it — I think people are missing this hidden power in his videos.

Another guy who has robust insights on geopolitics is Jeff Sachs:

Some of what he says counter-balances or contradicts what Jiang predicts which I like. He smooths things out for me. But he mostly looks at things purely from a geopolitical lens.

And remember Sachs is older and more directly involved in the overall system (UN for example). That makes some of his insights more experiential, but he also may be blind to other factors.

Oh and lastly Sachs is aware China is in a league of its own:
