What will matter in the last moments of Life?

I ask this not to provide you with an answer. I do not have one.

I ask this to stimulate direct contemplation into this matter. I ask you to become aware. Direct your consciousness into the investigation of this question.

Take a look at everything you think, everything you feel, and everything you do. Everything.

Now place yourself at the brink of Death. Imagine, for example, a slow death. Imagine a death where your psychological blueprint & faculties remain largely in working order.

What will you think?

What will you feel?

What will you do?

Are you dizzy?

Are you scared?

Are you lost in those moments?

What happens just past the precipice?

Does conscious awareness swiftly and smoothly detach from this particular form? 

What does that leave us with?

Yourself. The real you. You can't take your body with you..or your spouse..children..friends and loved ones . Your wealth and health can't save you. Your possessions..etc.

What matters after a long tiresome day when you are going to sleep ? Nothing but a little bit of silence and peace so you can meet your real self with ease.

Is there even such thing as true self?

Is not my body and mind the very things of which I consist?

What self could possibly lie underneath that?

Please most accurately describe for me the true self.

Obviously I must take the word "self" very loosely if I am to expect to find any such thing as a true self.

After all, if I cannot take anything with me, And you cannot take anything with you, what ultimately distinguishes us?

You're the body-mind but way more .they don't confine you.

But it doesnt look to me that we are indistinct. I am, in fact, under this state of consciousness, confined. in a certain sense, I am bound to my body and mind.

It feels to me, under my current state of consciousness, that I am indeed me. I am strictly me, and I am the only me.

And you are you. I am not you. I do not see from your eyes. I not feel from your position.

This is not an idea. It doesnt feel like an idea. 

I appear to be a distinct solemn entity.

Sure I may share the same grounding surface as you. We may both breathe a breath of the same air. But that does not make me you. And that does not make you me. 

Does it?

Could it be indeed true that what I am is an idea?

Say here, I am this piece of reality, but not that piece. I love this part, but not that part.

How is it that this seemingly distinct psychosensory bubble exists?

I wish to ground it. In some sort of physical system. The issue is that anywhere I look to ground it, anything I point to as an origin is nothing more than a limited aspect.

I cannot ground a thing within itself, can i?

I wish to anchor the boundless. I must define it such that it can be brought down into my limited state. I wish to truly see what it is.

It is as if I already know.

Just that I dont think I do. I think that I must be striving. I feel that I ought to continue to push toward it. It is not enough for me to simply rest in it.

But paradoxically, it would seem that the closest I can ever get to it is eternal rest.

That is quite literally how i define Death. I am afraid of Death. 

Is not the function of my mind to avoid death at all costs?

Is not that to be what I ultimately am?

This savage ferocity when it comes to the avoidance of Death?

Why is it here that Logic begins to fail us?

I don't know the exact details of what happens after the body dies.

All I know that what I am is something which is real and eternal and invincible . The real I can't die. Imagine erasing all forms from existence..what remains ? Well you are tempted to simplicitly say "Nothing !"...exactly. how could nothing ever die lol ?
