Soon I'm going to start really working my humiliation practice . I don't know what I'm going to do yet but I'm going intentionally trigger powerful levels of cringe .

Okay nothing crazy , I'm just gonna meditate in a public place.

On a lighter note, some of my intrusive thoughts are funny. I often catch myself saying these types of things out loud before registering them as a thought.

"Does Susie* want to date me?"

"Does God want to date me?"

See even posting in this is a form a mental checking . It's always about explaining , over explaining. But underneath there is simply silence.

All of OCD is made up of self-deception.

I think OCD / ADHD and all these similar so called "disorders" can sometimes be misunderstood for a highly artistic and intelligent mind. Sometimes people are able to read and see energy patterns and when it doesn't fit or is not harmonious, one tends to have the need to adjust and return to natural order.

I am but a reflection... a mirror... of you... of me... in a cosmic dance ~ of a unified mystery...

@Ramasta9 yeah I mean really the diagnosis is just about symptoms. I have instrusive thoughts and I have rituals for dealing with said instrusive thoughts. The root cause of that could be, as you suggested, an artistic mind or spiritual sensitivity. We live very unnatural lives, if you're sensitive it'll lead to all sorts of disorders.

Meds were helpful when I didn't have the discipline to meditate every day. Now that I have that discipline, meds seem redundant and I'm tapering off of them.

@Oppositionless

Wow this topic has been a game changer, thanks for posting it. I suspected relationship OCD about 11 years ago, then perhaps falsely concluded I was dealing with just fearful avoidant attachment style later on. I haven't heard the term in a long time but after visiting the website, everything makes more sense now.

What changed?

Your have different thoughts about the thoughts you had about your behavior?

You exchanged one label, made up of thoughts, with another label, made up of different thoughts?

What I am pointing to is sth I have seen many, many times. First with me, then with others: you find a new explanation for some experiences - and it all makes senses. Suddenly it all clicks. As a result, your acceptance for yourself and for your behavior rises. Your more happy, more content.

For a while. Until this effects wears off. The explanation doesn't fit as well as before. Something changes. Until you're pretty much back to where you where before. BUT: there's hope. Because there is a new explanation. Have your heard of [ enter new label] , which explains [enter sth that I couldn't accept] in a great way?

Here are smart words that present my apparent identity but don't mean anything. At all.

@theleelajoker I was just thinking about how actually Daniel Ingram's stages of insight actually makes sense of my current situation better than OCD. Called out. Lol.
