I'd like to do an experiment.

9 posts in this topic

I have two songs for you to listen to. They are both powerful in their own right. I want you to listen to both of them with an open heart, and whilst you listen, allow yourself to be present and be honest about how the song makes you feel. Then come back, and tell me what you think of each song, and we will have a conversation about the deeper intricacies of each song.

Each song is about Jesus, but with opposing viewpoints.

I think it's funny, because I'm sounding like an R.E. teacher, and I always hated R.E. teachers.

But, anyway the two songs are "Judith" by A Perfect Circle,

And "That's Who I Praise", by Brandon Lake.

Thankyou for your time.

@TruthFreedom I am not sure I can do it....I already know Judith by APC so well, and the story behind it. Loaded 🥹

It's still a regular on my playlists.

I'll give the other one a listen anyway

@Natasha Tori Maru

Do you get much from music? Some people are not affected much by music.

Anyway, hope you enjoyed the songs. Yeah, I know Judith is deep and heavy, but that's why I like it so much.

The bit where Maynard sings "did it all for yooooooooooouuu", and then the other singers come in on the same note, is epic.

Absolutely - and I love the clip (I think it is directed by David Fincher!) with Paz on the bass joining in the singing at the point you describe. Baller when she ties her hair up in rapid time between bars :)

Music is huge for me. Always has been.

I have always said a new album, or live music to sit and listen to, is better than a meal! I still frequent Jazz clubs, live venues etc. I go alone or with others. I spent $10k on a sound system with my first tax refund and I have hauled it around with me to many homes as I have moved.

Music big for you?

Well I would never spend that much on a sound system, but yes, I enjoy music

Just started getting into music production with a small home set-up.

I don't think we need to spend a lot on music equipment to create something special.

I've been enjoying cooking recently, and I think that creating a song is similar to cooking, it's just about finding the right ingredients.

I think that is SO open to preferences and interpretation ! Totally subjective.

I have 2 sealed subs, a centre, left/right and rear left/right connected to an amp/receiver. I purchased each speaker separately through a process of listening and sampling each at a high end audio shop. They set up a range of different amps/speaker combos to listen until you find the sound you prefer.

It just so happened the sound I preferred cost that much. I did add speakers over time from a simple amp/stereo set. Some people do not need as much equipment to get to something special. I have always been obsessed with sound and soundstages. I love tweaking my setup to get to that precise sound I love!

Music is just computer sounds, thats how you know we are in a simulation, we like computer sounds. clicking beeping and banging. You hear a beep and a boop and feel an emotion and say I relate to that on a soul level. That must be because at a soul level you are like a computer.
