We tend to assume that if you can’t see something, it isn’t real. But that’s not actually how discovery works. For example, bacteria were invisible until we invented the microscope. We didn’t reject bacteria because they were unseen. Rather, we just hadn’t built the tools to discover them yet.

So what about experiences that science can’t measure yet?

Think about Jesus and his miracles. Whether you believe in them or not, they weren’t meant to be lab experiments. They were meant to point at something deeper. At meaning and metaphor, not merely proof. That’s a completely different kind of knowing than what a textbook, a bank statement, or a certificate can show you.

Now think about elite athletes. When someone does something physically insane, like breaking a world record,  we don’t call it a miracle. We call it genetics, training, physics. We found a scientific explanation and stopped wondering if there was more to it.

Here’s the thing though: some of the most powerful human experiences are internal. Spiritual moments, deep intuition, altered states of consciousness… they’re real to the one having them, but you can’t put them under a microscope. Science was built to study things you can repeat and measure externally. That doesn’t make inner experiences fake. It just means our current scientific paradigm  wasn’t designed to hold them.

The problem is that our society only takes seriously what fits inside the box that maintains survival. If you can’t prove that it keeps the system alive, it gets dismissed, immediately. But the box only detects what it was built to detect and sustain. That’s not the same as saying nothing exists outside it.

Every major leap in human understanding happened when enough weird stuff piled up that the old explanations stopped working. The real question is whether we’re brave enough to take the unexplainable seriously
