Self help for teens

4 posts in this topic

Im a piano teacher studying developmental psychology into this work who's been trying to connect more to my current occupation. I have a teen i teach (14) who has expressed interest in philosophy aswell as psychology and has been talking about his "self-improvement project" in between our practicing.

I thought this was really cool to hear, and wondered what that was like for kids his age entering the "achiever" mode in the world today..

It had me thinking, is there any relatively high consciousness self improvement content out there that I could recommend him to help at all?

Anything that was geared towards boys at the highschool age or even young adults thats better than what else he'd probably be seeing on his TikTok?

Maybe something that talked basically about masculinity and mental health in a healthy way, motivation, maybe even some stoic or existential philosophy?

It would have to not be too far out, but something to foster his interests and hopefully steer him in a good direction.

Does anyone know of anything that would be gold? What do you guys think?

I feel like suggesting Leo's videos might get me fired from my job 😁 even if his earlier ones would be good.

No joke, make the kid watch the Life Advice for Young People series. And if in doubt, promise him/her a gift afterwards.

You know what, I'm listening back to it and I think it could really work. Thanks for the tip on the gift 😁
