If I ever buy a console again it would be a steam console. Seems like the most logical thing. It has the best deal all the games except exclusives and I heard nothing but good.

Curious about its price, too - apparently, it's on par with a mid-range PC of similar specs, not a console.

The Steam Frame uses an ARM chip. Intrigued mostly by the software and the prospects of Linux gaming.

It doesn’t seems to be a good idea.

With consoles you get exclusives and optimization; and with a PC you get Steam, but also other platforms, and everything else; and of course most Steam/PC exclusives are made for keyboards:

@SchizophoniaLook how many games there are on steam. The deals on steam are insane, way worth it to not play some shitty exclusive that xbox throws out. The exclusives for playstation come to steam.

You might not get to play mario 28 on it.

If the price is right, it could work. Keep in mind it's still a PC running SteamOS, a Linux distro, with a KDE Plasma–based desktop mode. So, for example, there's no online multiplayer fee unlike on consoles. And it could be used to write documents, browse the web, watch movies, and all that.

You could install Windows, use other stores and launchers, etc. Performance is reportedly on par with the PS5, though Valve seems to be prioritizing accessibility and convenience.

I was wondering what niche this was aimed at, since why bother buying this console when it's simpler to just get a Windows PC.
