I understand you, I live in a Mountain area in Portugal, small City, some nice places to eat, simple people, some turists sometimes in Summer, Hot during summer days but more fresh in morning and afternoons. Big cities like Lisbon may have more Nigth Life but one can go there once in a while to have fun and come back to the peace of nature to rest. 

And also away from City Civil Unrest in case it hit someday.

Thailand would definitely be great per I would cut the skateboarding and just stick to kickboxing and Muay Thai out there. But also I'm very skeptical of the lady boys that are out there lol

I think the word nature should be conserved for living stuff. Which a desert has little of. 
But the landscape in Nevada is def cool. When I camped there it even snowed and little rabbits came by.

Anyhow, I can’t stand dry weather, no matter the temp.
