Salvia Divinorum. Anyone Tried the “Ramping Up” Method?

Hey everyone,

I was recently gifted some Salvia 30x — totally unexpected, I didn’t ask for it. Now that I have it, curiosity has started to kick in… even though I’ve read plenty of reports warning that it can be intense, disorienting, and often downright unpleasant. Many describe it as non-recreational and even liken it to visiting a kind of "nightmare realm."

That said, I came across a guy on YouTube who shared a different approach: what he calls the “ramping up” method. It involves smoking an extremely tiny amount, waiting around 45–60 seconds, and only then deciding whether to take a little more. The idea is that this gradual approach helps you avoid being overwhelmed and may even allow for meaningful insights, rather than just chaos.

I haven’t tried it yet — and honestly, I’m still on the fence. The good news is that Salvia keeps for years, so there’s no rush. . .

Has anyone here tried this slow, ramp-up method with Salvia? Did it help you manage the experience? Did you find it insightful at lower doses?

Do you have any prior experiences with psychedelics? How does weed affect you in particular?

I'd say that the ramp-up method is the sane approach towards the Salvia realm. 

Consider that the substance has various thresholds of experience, so one mini-hit more can mean breakingthrough into that state of consciousness, maybe in it you can take more hits till one breaks you through into a more bizarre world, at some point you won't be able to move and may lose body awareness and memory completely and be in non-human green zip universe. So it's a wide spectrum that going slow allows you to decide when to stop instead of getting catapulted to it.

What I most like about Salvia is the nonhuman, alien, bizarre states of consciousness that presents, it allows room for very creative, nonconventional thoughts and new angles to reflect about oneself and life.

You should do ramp-up on any new chemical.

Definitely don't take full hits of salvia off the bat. Even a small toke will be felt within seconds. With salvia you can get a taste of the direction it's taking you. See if you can handle that. It's not a nightmare realm inherently. It's just a weird and radical expansion of consciousness. Where that takes you is unknown.
