It's like a phenomenon of synesthesia where your brain part for categorizing and scanning your environment around you is stronger connected to your audio brain part and communicates with it more in unfiltered way so you can feel the communication between them and that's your energy feeling.

Although you also scan physical phenomenon like changes in temperature and wind so that should also produce some synesthesia. It could be that you get extra information through this although it's always your interpretation and suggestion.
