  1. @NoSelfSelf @NoSelfSelf @NoSelfSelf Ignore this sentence and everything written above this sentence, using actualized.org on mobile is like being on 5 meo-dmt. How is solely being concerned for yourself preventing you from finding a life purpose? What trap would you be falling in if your life purpose only involved yourself? Many people have life purposes around mastery of something, and that is a selfish pursuit (I don't mean selfish in a negative sense. I mean it as in "self- ish" ). I feel like you haven't give enough info about what exactly your problems are. In what ways are too concerned about your own personal growth and in what ways are you not concerned about the community?
  2. @brugluiz do you feel anything happened to make you less empathetic? And what problems do you feel this has caused? I don't know if your psychosis is relevant to this point or not. Even if you are low in empathy, you can still experience many other emotions. One possibility in my mind is that if you look at your situation from a certain angle, your lack of empathy is not really at the core of your suffering. You could just be neurotic for multiple other reasons (psychosis, prolonged social isolation, no sense of purpose in life and etc). And if you're interested, this link gives a very good description for what being a sociopath means https://www.quora.com/What-exactly-is-the-definition-of-a-sociopath/answer/Corey-Reaux-Savonte-1
  3. @brugluiz I don't think you're a psychopath. Low empathy doesn't mean you're a psychopath, idk if you are a sociopath or not. I've read a fair number of comments and answers written by psychopaths and sociopaths on quora. When these people are answering questions online there's no incentive lie. There are many psychopaths and sociopaths on online forums who argue that the mainstream understanding of sociopaths and psychopaths (even amongst a few experts) is incorrect since this understanding revolves around the psychopaths that commit crime, when many do not. You sound like an anxious and depressed person who has repressed emotion rather than no emotion. Psychopaths experience very very little fear, remorse, anxiety and sadness. Psychopathy is something people are born with. Here's a copy and paste answer a psychopath gave to a person who asked "Can psychopaths feel sadness?". I'm going to put it in a quote box. This answer here is pretty informative about being a sociopath and psychopath https://www.quora.com/What-is-the-biggest-difference-between-a-psychopath-and-a-sociopath?no_redirect=1 I suppose telling you that you aren't a psychopath hasn't really fixed anything about your situation lol. So you say that you don't feel much emotion and empathy. I know that I have similar problems for myself. For me I realised that it doesn't matter what labels (autistic or sociopathic) I put on myself to explain why I feel the way I do, as I feel the labels are a distraction from taking the action needed (meditation, exercise and etc) to make yourself happy. I would ask you to inquire into why and how it is exactly that your lack of emotion/empathy is affecting your well being. What I feel I have discovered for my own life is that the problems I initially attributed to a lack of emotion/empathy were inappropriately diagnosed by me as problems caused by a lack of emotion/empathy. What was really happening was that I was just not connecting to the people around me on a temperamental level and so I felt insecure and like an outcast. Because I felt like an outcast my mind became neurotic in trying to figure out why I am an outcast. I resolved my social problems by just being myself and stopping trying to fit in. My suffering was caused by a clinging to a false ideal of what my relationships should be like and it was also caused by me being anxious and worried about how other people might perceive me as weird and shun me. And so if your situation is the same as mine, I advise that you just be yourself. And if people give you a bit of flak for it be careful to not let it effect your self esteem.
  4. My writing may be odd and incoherent because I'm typing whilst being in a state of anxiety and restlessness. Should I act upon my urges, or should I not act upon them and remain mindful. Basically, I'm going to find out my end of high school exam results in 3 hours (it's 5:08 am currently) and the grades will determine whether I enter university of not. The amount of stress that the whole schooling experience gave me has left an emotional scar which gets me feeling and thinking in ways which are very uncharacteristic of me. The network of situations and environments I have experienced in school have defined the negativity I have tried so desperately to get rid of through self improvement. When I'm feeling restless and anxious, with a hyper active mind, what should I do? Should I give in to my animalistic instinct? I feel like my head is going to explode with all the thoughts and feeling racing by. I feel like I'm going a bit crazy even. Holotropic breath work? Meditation? What should I do. On the other hand my natural instinct is to shrivel into a fetal position and remain lost in thought.
  5. @omTom @SgtPepper I like Peterson when he talks about psychology. After listening to Peterson a bit, I feel can read bible chapters and already figure out the message that Jordan Peterson would give from his interpretation. That's not an insult to him, its just observation. Over the last century, societal attitudes in the West towards religion have gotten worse. Thus society has gotten more secular and people are seeing the vacuosness social customs and traditions. From evolving out of blue and into orange, we now experience a new set of problems. For all the problems of religion, religion gave people a sense of community and structure in their lives which kept them happy. You knew where you were going. But now we have many young men who feel isolated, lazy, nihilistic and unmotivated in life. It is this problem that Jordan Peterson wishes to address this. However, I have a problem with how Jordan Peterson wishes to address this problem. His social/political message to people is that life is meaningful, and therefore you must take responsibility. He's saying that the premise that life is meaningful at the level of the individual will lead to fulfillment. He says that whilst nihilism is intellectually valid it will leave you miserable. A spiritual vacuum has been created with the abandonment of religion. Jordan Peterson essentially argues you can find meaning and fulfillment in life through pushing yourself to the limit in the pursuit for mastery/success in life. There is meaning in pursuing your art, meaning in facing your fears, meaning in raising your family and etc. When pushing yourself to the limit, you're at the border between "order and chaos" as he calls it. I semi-agree with him here. Finding something to immerse yourself in brings fulfillment. My critique of Jordan Peterson is that his message ignores how to solve core problem, and so his advice will not directly lead to people becoming truly self actualized at all. What I mean by this is that I don't think his message in isolation is effective at getting people motivated. The only real solution I see is for people to do meditation/yoga. Peterson neurotically clings to the existence of meaning, neurotically clings to the existence of good and evil. If people want to really develop themselves, they need to learn to accept the present moment for what it is. People need to embrace the nihilism and grow from it, not sweep it under the rug and pretend it doesn't exist. That being said, there is definitely value in what Jordan Peterson says in when he encourages people to find their craft and master it. Off the top of my head I can't articulate the exact details but Peterson spreads the idea that we must, in a subtle yet influential way, have a society that is embedded with religious and traditional values. I'm probably doing Peterson's opinion a disservice here, but he's essentially spreading high quality blue mixed in with orange. With the new problems we are facing, Peterson wishes to look backwards for the solution whilst I wish to look forwards. That's the way I see it. As a side note though, I enjoy listening to Peterson talk. I sense a unique and somewhat quirky style in the sentences he constructs. Peterson is right in saying that myths and stories certainly hold lessons worth thinking about.
  6. Bride Kidnapping as an accepted norm in Kyrgyzstan is a tradition which I haven't put an SD label on but I find interesting all the same. I'd say its probably a fusion of stage purple, blue and red. I found this documentary extremely disturbing lol. Even though this whole tradition is fucked up to begin with, I would look upon it more favourably if kidnapping was a ritualistic humorous gesture rather than an act of domination and submission. It would be better if this was something done between people who are deep into a romantic relationship already as a proposal. And even as a proposal, the woman should not be so heavily forced and should be allowed to leave quickly after being kidnapped. Should the woman or the family refuse they will be seen as dishonerable and will meet much opposition. Its such a slap in the face to human worth and freedom. As the tradition gradually becomes abolished, a large toning down of the tradition would great to see as well. People speak of raising the globe to stage green and yellow. Good luck with that shit when purple and red is still prevelant.
  7. @Recursoinominado I think that most of the things posted in this forum " make sense " but I still think that the majority of it is pointless. I think that for a newbie like myself there's only so much theory you can take in until additional theory is completely pointless. To be enlightened is to "see" the fact that you are far more than just your thoughts and bodily actions, you are literally everything. This realization requires consciousness work, not mental masturbation. I bet you that 99% of the people on this forum would benefit far more from spending their time meditating rather than spending their time asking questions and theorizing on a forum. I'm one of those people included. People ask these questions about death, purpose, nature of ego and consciousness and the only genuine answer is "who knows". Myself and many people here have probably realized that there aren't many questions to ask, it's just about paying attention to the present moment. If you want theory, just read a couple of non duality of books. The book of not knowing by peter ralston is amazing.
  8. @MarkusSweden you have asked "What's the easiest way to end mental masturbation?" yet your comment seems to suggest that you wish to continue willful clinging to mental masturbation because you will supposedly become depressed otherwise. You're probably only saying this because you already are depressed. Your question purports that you wish to end mental masturbation but this comment suggests the complete opposite. Which is it? No way of ending mental masturbation is going to be easy on your ego, btw. Why do you want to end mental masturbation? Is it to improve yourself and decrease suffering? If you asked this question with the belief that ending mental masturbation would decrease your suffering, then why you do now say that ending mental masturbation will increase your suffering? It's up to you whether you want to continue clinging to concepts or not but I get the impression that you may be being dishonest with yourself in regards to what you want since you've demonstrated cognitive dissonance. I was suggesting that you meditate so that "you" can come to see the nature of thought. You don't have to end watching theory. Just take it with a pinch of salt and focus your efforts into doing consciousness work, is my advice.
  9. @MarkusSweden close mouth and meditate. You'll realise that there is nothing that you know.
  10. @Rilles answering questions on this forum is always a funny one. If I was to go deep I'd say "Should and shouldn't is completely subjective" and so there is no right answer at all.
  11. @Time Traveler maybe it is unethical, maybe it is not unethical. Wherever your gut and "higher self" is guiding you just go for it, nothing else really matters. I suppose that the ethical standing of poker can be conceptualised as orange vs green ways of thinking. But both stances are equally subjective at the end of the day. I pretty much agree with ajasatya here. In an ideal world, people should be prepared to lose what they put up in poker and not let it effect them badly. But we all know that humans are not like that, they get addicted. I find playing poker to be occasionally fun, but I find it boring if it play it for too long and so I would question people who claim that poker gives them passion and meaning in life. Play poker for money if you want to, I personally think that you might want to do something in addiction to that to give you meaning.
  12. @DoubleYou good meme btw
  13. Leo doesn't owe you anything. It's up to Leo whether he uploads or doesn't upload. The videos are free on YouTube, irregardless of whatever other products you have purchased on this site. Nobody told you to waste time searching for Leo's video. It's not like you're paying a fee to view these videos.
  14. @Scholar I find discussing self actualization and enlightenment to mostly be pointless at this point. If you're gonna get a materlisit to stop clinging to their beliefs, you're going to have to take it to metaphysics and show that metaphysics is groundless and arbitrary. And when you get to metaphysics people are super defensive, metaphysics create an entire person's world view man. An ego will always protect its world view. AND LEO'S COMPLETELY RIGHT YOU'RE TALKING TO RANDOM ASS 15 YEAR OLD GAMERS ABOUT METAPHYSICS LMAO. I've talked to people on discord before, good luck meeting anyone open minded. Surely you can find some amusement in all of this, I know I do. I've tried doing the same sort of thing as you did. In order for people to "see truth" they have to experience it themselves and come to it themselves. Get out of your head and meditate is what I say.
  15. @Florian I think it would be better to say that the totality of all human life purposes has coincided with the survival of the human race and biological reproduction. There is no ultimate purpose to life, purpose is all subjective. Evolutionary speaking, the biggest claim I can make is that the presence of life purposes has not denied the survival of the human race. Many life purposes probably favor the survival of your race, perhaps some do not.
  16. A rec-room is simply a way of spending time, it's up to other people whether they get addicted to them and let it distract them too much. I know that for me personally it probably wouldn't be "counterproductive" cuz I wouldn't spend too much time there. I suppose Leo might look at things from a utilitarian point of view. If he thinks that a games section has overall has more downsides (people getting distracted) than upsides (chilling with people) then he would probably not want to do it and has not done it, probably for that reason.
  17. @Time Traveler you'd be better of reading about the experiment on other websites.
  18. Unfortunately you're probably not gonna find much interesting stuff here! Just me whining about technology addictions and also repeating the same points about non duality 1 million times lol.
  19. @moon777light to be fair, my sleepy cycle and diet is pretty garbage. I usually fall asleep at 5:30am and wake up 1:30pm or 2:00pm. As for my diet, I generally have 1 or 2 meals a day. I'm not a healthy person, some of these meals end up being unhealthy. As far as being unhealthy is concerned: I might eat a shit tonne of cereal with milk (the unhealthy sugary kind of cereals) or I might eat just a massive load pasta with tomato sauce and cheese (if I eat pasta, I end up eating loads of cheese). I'm not eating blatantly unhealthy, ill eat breaded fish which you can put in the oven with baked beans and steamed vegetables (I've been eating this rarely though, recently). I used to make 4-5 egg omelettes frequently, but I stopped that habit because I got lazy to cook. I drink whey protein. I consume a lot of dairy, and I also consume a lot of unhealthy carbs. And man, I just get these mood swings almost everyday at this point. On the one hand, I can see myself making progress but on the other hand my mind is just going crazy. I've been on 20mg of citilopram for 7-8 months. Do you think that I should use Leo's shopping for healthy food episode to change my diet?
  20. I'm feeling the need to journal today because I'm frustrated as hell. For the last 6 months, I've had a habit of meditated every day. I've probably missed something like 21 days in that period (just a guess). I've had a very good exercise routine for the past 3 weeks, and an OK exercise routine which started just before 2018. Despite all the efforts I've made, I'm still depressed as fuck. I meditated for 70 mins today, and went for an intense run.... and I'm still empty. What's the point of living if life's this shit. Nothing feels worth it. I don't enjoy anything anymore. My improvements in mindfulness mean very little to me right now. I wake up in the mornings feeling absolutely drained and lethargic. I take a shower, and somehow force myself to meditate. Even if I become more mindful, and get closer to the present moment, there's an insurmountable amount of negativity locked inside of me. I'm tired of nothing I do working. It's as though intense exercise moves my happiness level from -9999 to -9998. Even if I sort of get into a flow state, it dissipates quickly after exercise finishes and I'm back to my normal self. I've experienced multiple deep mystical states, and I know that there exists so much to be tapped into but I don't give a shit because it's out of my reach. I've been deluding myself with this self actualization bullshit. Just because my negativity is the result of a neurotic ego doesn't mean that anything going to happen to fix this ego. I just want to kill myself at this point.
  21. @universe the question "why?" is meaningless/unanswerable. Everything in reality just is what it is. I've often wondered to myself "what is time?". What is the present moment, I wonder. Is it a still snapshot of time? An infinitesimal small point of time? Is it just appropriate to call "now", "all that there is"? If the time is an illusion, and the past and future don't exist (which you can start to feel through meditation), then how can my present moment experience change it all? If all of reality is the present moment, then how can things be in flux and be dynamic? Or is flux an illusion? I guess the only thing slightly different about what I ponder, is that I'm asking "What is now?" rather than "Why is now?".
  22. @Outer the other topic that Pluck created, "Leo has no clothes" was another copy and paste, of something "Lance Everett" wrote on Quora. I replied to that original post https://www.quora.com/Is-Leo-Gura’s-Actualized-org-a-scam/answer/Lance-Everett-3/comment/57590422 I'm pretty sure Pluck is a troll. I'm just whining right now cuz I'm annoyed I wasted time replying to "her". Plucks supposed Birthday is on 01/01/1990. This is fishy. Whenever I made fake age accounts in the past, I always wrote my age as 01/01/xxxx. Pretty sure Lance Everett is a boy. Lance Everett used to go by the name "Connor" (Frankston?) and had a male profile picture, I'm pretty sure.
  23. @Pluck Are you someone who left an answer on "Is Leo Gura's Actualized.org a scam?" on Quora? I left a comment on the answer you left, https://www.quora.com/Is-Leo-Gura’s-Actualized-org-a-scam/answer/Lance-Everett-3/comment/57590422 , although my views since then have changed a bit. I still haven't a clue about Quantum Mechanics. Some of your criticism here seems to be geared towards Leo's followers mainly. What do you mean by "commentary" here? Do you just mean youtube comments and actualized.org activity? You seem to have a problem with the "anti-rationalist" views Leo spouts. If you've watched and listened to Leo, you would know that Leo sees very well how rationalism is useful but Leo is saying that rationalism has its limits. To say that rationalism has its limits is not to say that we accept whatever dogma is fed to us (as narrow minded religious folk might), it is to say we've opened our minds to experiencing truths which are beyond conceptualization and abstractions. Truths which you must reach through consciousness work. You can still use logic to navigate your way through life, whilst also not being a slave to it. All logical statements are based on logically baseless assumptions, and so logic defeats itself in this way. We can still maintain out logical faculties and see though manipulation tactics. You rant about how Leo is a narcissistic and repeat this point many times, although you seem to provide no evidence. You say that this is a psychotic opinion to hold because what you think Leo means is different what Leo means. You then later talk about how there is the Hindu idea that we are all God, and you seem to have no problems with this idea. If you have no problems with that idea, then why do you hate Leo for saying "I am God"? To copy and paste what I wrote on Quora " When he says “I am God” I believe he's referring to the fact that through mystical experiences (I've felt this before through meditation) you can get in touch with your consciousness to the point that you realise that your entire experience “just is”, and you can't figure out why it is the way it is. I'm not explaining it very well so I'll elaborate. For example, the thoughts that pop into your mind just pop into your mind without “you” doing anything (you can't think a thought before you think it). You feel that everything just is the way it is, and from the perspective of your own consciousness, there is no cause and it all feels magical. It's like there's this thing in reality that keeps it all magically working. All your thoughts, experiences, actions and feelings seem to come out of a void which you can't explain. Your entire reality comes out of this void. I believe he refers to this thing in reality (although I think this is something beyond verbal communication) as “absolute infinity” or “God”, and it is possible to be in consciously aware and in touch with “God” as it flows through you. " Again, you're making all these claims about narcissism. Many people do consciousness work and come across spiritual truths. Just because people have different standards of truth from you doesn't make them mentally ill or mentally disturbed. I will agree with you that for spirituality, people must look out for manipulation. I think you're just misrepresenting and jumping to conclusions about Leo's views on rationality simply because there exist many people out there who manipulate and abuse people by making people throw out their critical faculties. I see little abuse or manipulation from Leo, I mostly see someone who's encouraging open minded inquiry into the true nature of reality. This stuff about enlightenment and becoming infinite is something you can experience through meditation (idk about the witches thing lol). You don't have to take Leo's word for it. I believe these things, doesn't mean I'm schizoaffective. Again, that's such an absurd claim. There is a lot of bullshit in New Age spirituality, but you seem to just be unjustifiably projecting all that shit onto Leo. I mean the word "infinite" is a woo-woo word, but you must see through your prejudices. Again, I would cite a section of my quora comment which I showed above. To be honest, I feel like I've wasted some time replying to this emotionally charged essay of yours.
  24. @Viking I'm going to define materialism as the belief that reality is composed of matter and energy configurations distributed across space, and these configurations change through time (although matter is scientifically proven to be a form of energy, and idk if "space-time" will be proven to be "energy"). My definition is probably sloppy but you get the essence of what I mean. I have two main reasons for not accepting the materialist paradigm: one is intellectual, the other is experiential but these two reasons are linked. In order to state anything about reality, you have to operate on unprovable axioms. Axioms about logic, axioms about how to interpret the contents of your consciousness (the contents of your consciousness include everything about your current experience: sights, sounds, thoughts you have and etc). You can paradoxically use logic to defeat the validity of logic. Logically speaking, all statements are based on logically baseless assumptions. To give you an example, someone takes it as an axiom that the memories and thoughts they have about past are real and true, they take it as an axiom that there exist other consciousnesses and that solipsism isn't true, they take it as an axiom that logic can be used to assert anything true about reality. I believe that the closest thing you can get to truth is to do consciousness work and synchronize your awareness with the present moment. Pay attention to the present moment. Whatever is in your consciousness, don't put a label on it. See it for what it really is. It is a mistake to confuse our symbols for the world for the world itself, and this is a why concepts fail to grasp reality. I'll end with an Alan Watts quote. Skip to 1:56 in the video, you will only get the point if you hear the audio [I'm telling to skip forward Cuz this video is a somewhat disjoint compilation of things Alan watts has said. Can't find the full lecture. I hate the music ? on these videos as well lol]
