That's putting it mildly! I know in my own journey I've had moments where I'm wondering how the hell I managed to come out the other side, because it seemed so bleak and hopeless at times But you know, it's testament to your inner strength that you did manage to get through it

Just keep in mind that reality and your perception of reality are two very different things. People usually mistake one for the other.

It just seemed so adorable to me that your hands were talking to you in such a loving way, I don't know why VERY interesting, that does make a lot of sense to me! Because of course the world isn't actually anything like as concrete as we imagine it is, is it? I don't think this issue is going to resolve itself until he opens up emotionally, either to you or to a therapist, it's just going to cause a lot of frustration and unhappiness for both of you until he does that, I think. Where it becomes really counter-productive is when you place restrictions on what you can or can't think or feel - eg 'a spiritual person doesn't get angry', say, and then you simply deny the anger that exists within you. That sort of thinking doesn't lead to spiritual liberation, it leads to emotional repression. A true spirituality places no such conditions on life. That doesn't mean that you can behave however the hell you want based on how you're feeling - we still have to behave responsibly, obviously, or else we simply create problems for ourselves and others further down the road. It simply means that you stop trying to make life conform to your preconceptions.

@Regan So funny you mentioned the prodigal son, I referenced that parable just before (slightly different context, mind, I was talking about the footballer Cristiano Ronaldo going back to Manchester United ).
