  1. @B Clear Strangely I was thinking about NLP and the Subconscious yesterday. A similarity between NLP and "Snow White" occurred to me with the "Magic Mirror on the Wall " often said as "Mirror, Mirror on the Wall". Another similarity between Narcissus, the pool of water and Echo. http://thelastpsychiatrist.com/2012/10/the_story_of_narcissus.html Trust - involves an element of vulnerability, though not recklessness. I wonder what the distinction between trust and naivety would be? Theta Healing - Is that like Anaesthesia? How does that heal? Ayn Rand Objectivism and the Subconscious."The Virtue of Selfishness" Didn't go too well for her later in life. I believe the Freudian Unconscious model is the far more accurate, as opposed to the Subconscious. Few thoughts, not really sure how to structure them more thoroughly. Maybe there's an agony aunt or someone you can correspond with, sometimes being alone, is not really being alone.
  2. @Alexo45 If you managed to quit smoking, start going to the gym and eat healthy. Maybe you should stick with what works, i.e grounding yourself in your body. Instead of studying your life purpose go more at it from a discovery angle, field trip, road trip, something practical.
  3. "Vulnerability" and Distraction. The Mask, The Truman Show, Liar Liar. Not saying he is necessarily like that in everyday life, but why act all the time on TV as well.
  4. Like the Stag scene from the movie Highlander. https://youtu.be/Tfm6EvoE7FA "What makes the grass grow? Blood Blood Blood." - Full Metal Jacket
  5. Was listening to a video by Alan Watts who said something like: words have meaning, even if things do not.
  6. "What Is The Approach In Order To Change/grow Someone?" Cage Match? Why would you want to?
  7. @Igor82 "This above all: to thine own self be true." I have heard that people in France often study to be a medical doctor in Romania. Maybe do a gap year, but talk to lots of people in the flesh.
  8. Tell her there's a hole in your bucket? If she says mend it with straw aim higher.
  9. @Igor82 "Three Years Of Spare Time" Wouldn't it be better to say three years of !!!!PREMIUM!!!! time, since you say you're 16? Instead of minimalism, essentialism. I wouldn't say not going to a high school is a sacrifice, unless you want to be schooled(like a fish) So what's your plan to develop the plan, of the plan to develop your online business? Couldn't you go into some coding IT company and be like, BAM! I'm the Shit! Look for ways of being trained up, unless you want to do the 9-5 thing with perhaps little flexibility to say no, might come with a good paycheck, might not.
  10. Is there anyone not controlled by their emotions?
  11. It's not rape if I enjoy it. Though if a persons face is all caved in, their sphincter ruptured and they now have syphilis. I wonder if an enlightened Guru is going to be chill with that, if it happened to them(as a sack of meat)? Instead of Evil, could the term unhealthy(or insane) be applicable and if so, wouldn't health(or sanity) be preferable(or the eventual default). What would be the most healthy or the most unhealthy? Although to the Ego as to a heroin addict or rapist healthy and unhealthy probably matter little, if at all. Would health mean something different to an enlightened person then compared to a doctor or a person ego driven? Maybe there is some sort of Total recall scenario to deal with the ego, quick fix/botched job, divine providence, meditation, something..... Not that I necessarily want to do anything with my ego, curious and thinking aloud.
  12. "If We Just Die, Why Actualize?" Because we ask the question, unfinished business. Few thoughts, not fully formed or structured. Thomas Crown Affair The Windmills of our mind Round Like a circle in a spiral Like a wheel within a wheel Never ending or beginning On an ever-spinning reel Like a snowball down a mountain Or a carnival balloon Like a carousel that's turning Running rings around the moon Like a clock whose hands are sweeping Past the minutes of its face And the world is like an apple Whirling silently in space Like the circles that you find In the windmills of your mind Catharsis (Pure, Purge) Was thinking of reason being used ex post facto. "And" the word Catharsis came up. Not sure where I picked up the association, but thought of Catharsis turning back on itself( a bit like a Catherine Wheel, a firework that spins), maybe like some annihilation of reason. Interestingly the word Catharsis is associated with Aristotle and some play Oedipus Rex(King). Kafir (unpure/unbeliever/to cover). Interestingly there is a place called Kafiristan in Afghanistan was apparently some sun worshipping religion. Anyway, just interested in how things tie in, maybe any associations are purely coincidental. Cathar, guess a kind of trope from movies such as the Ninth Gate and Da Vinci code. Interesting to see how various ideas play out. "Kill them all let God sort them out." - Albigensian Crusade Shake your balls? The whole head shaking thing at the end reminded me of the movie Jacobs Ladder.
  13. "Someone Please Talk Me Out Of Going Back To My Lying Addiction Days". You've already decided. Perhaps not being around what triggers the lying, or to find something more addictive to replace the lying. As for incentive, how does someone quantify the "benefits" of lying to not lying or being true to self?
  14. Why Does Ego In All Its Evil Exist? Agreeableness. Agreeableness. The fragmentation of the psyche (some forced, but mostly imprinted) into an individual that conforms with a society. I guess that handles the what, as for the why, something to do with the collective unconscious, the super organism and the creation of life. I think assigning person-hood to Ego may not be the most beneficial way of consideration, though for expression in language how else could "it" be articulated. Anyone see the movie "Interview with the Vampire"? In the movie the vampire Lestat "The State" mentions that he "doesn't know any hell." After Louis tell's him "you condemned me to hell!" Lestat is able to read a person's thoughts, but he can't experience his own emotions, so he "needs" to experience them through another. Lestat is Unholy, honest and superfluous, as well as rational. Though as one organism his impact is localised and is a mirror of others. Lestat also doesn't really know any different from his form of hell, being born into it. Note: There is something called the Mandela effect(some Internet phenomenon) I know from reading some of C.G.Jung that a Mandala(sometimes a flower) is usually a symbol of the self. Thought I mention it, have heard it before, thus "Interview with the vampire" is often called "a" vampire, as if they are actual . "Freeeee Nelson Mandela......"
  15. I remember a video that @Prabhaker posted about Gurus being good at eliminating questions, or something along those lines.
  16. Riding a bicycle, driving a car, do you want to be aware of all the decisions being made to keep you balanced or would you rather focus on the road. Looking in the fridge and then wondering why you opened it, sleep walking or being drunk. The hand from Dr Straneglove choking him. Maybe, just unresolved issues or creative endeavours, brought out by lack of consciousness.
  17. @Finn Dependence: I was going to say if you live in the USA (help with flood relief, though the USA is massive), but you're in Europe as I am." The grass is definitely greener in other western continents, in many ways. Who isn't dependent on the State in Europe? Probably like a tiny fraction of the whole. You have a large, flower industry in Holland right... in fact the area I live in the UK is actually called South Holland after the region in the Netherlands. Merchants generally do very well, but you have to have your own contacts. What's it like for work in the Netherlands in general? Tie yourself(or be tied) to the mast(Odysseus or Ulysses): The Sirens call. Yes being drugged by media is not generally a good thing, in the moment is all well and good (or is it?) I think the trick is to be able to expose yourself to things that maybe beneficial or cut your ties completely. Can't live by the sirens for long, drown in the unconscious so to speak. Limits: I wouldn't say the life purpose course "requires" you to do X, remember you own, your copy and not the other way round, but presumably you made a commitment in a way. Don't be bored, if you're bored you are limiting yourself. "If you're are bored, it means you are boring, it means you have a limiting mind " John Taylor Gato. (Paraphrased, think engagement) Feelings "might" point you in a positive direction, but do you really embody your values. You may find many are contradictory and evil to certain people and groups, very hard to avoid or embrace/accept. There are darksides to values(Jung would call it the Shadow), but not necessarily evil. Calm(JEDI) and Passion(SITH), generally conflict.
  18. Motivational speeches at public venues Spartacus?
  19. @Finn Career("Wheeled Vehicle"): "That I would not care for. It'd kill me with anxiety as well as monotony, which is a strange combination because monotony tends to be closely related to predictable." If you say so. Though there was the Italian PM or President Silvio Berlusconi, which I read about who worked on a cruise ship. I guess it depends on what you do and how things are arranged now, whether it' waiting tables, language courses, or being a musician. Do you have any ideas? Finance("Finesse", an end): "I would, but it's not the reality of my life. It's a hypothetical for anyone without 7 figures in their bank account." A large part of the world has 7 figures in their bank account, or at least under their mattress, in their attic... Money: Momentary value. Currency: "current" liquid value. At the least, what you think about money determines a lot about what you may do in the moment. Especially if you acquire much, can see celebrities often devastated after acquiring money and not handling it and themselves well. Anxiety "Being comfortable leads to misery. That's what I'm experiencing at least. But the misery isn't greater than the anxiety involved with expansion. Otherwise I'd just do whatever to get out, right?" Expansion.... or change? Anxiety I guess is more of a push factor than a pull factor, if your anxiety isn't going to increase, nothing to worry about right??? Perhaps you should explore your anxiety more, which would be a more existential approach(Perhaps), or go more into misery and comfort which maybe far more difficult or not (maybe) and stoical in nature. Forged or Cast "I don't really see how this ties in with clarifying very open-ended questions such as "what are you really good at" or "what do you care about most" or "what does your soul yearn for". I think because you need some baseline values to orientate yourself in the world ( You can build a dwelling without a foundation, but is it a good idea?), one thing to bare in mind is do you really value something or just say you do? A person imo is stronger if they are forged, rather than cast. All 3 additional questions, as you said are open and would require additional threads to even attempt to explore and answer in any detail.
  20. @Finn Values: "Joy, passion, creativity, society, calm, excellence." None of those are my values, but I could see how they could be for a particular sort of person. What about working on a cruise ship or as a tour guide? I'm currently trying to hammer through my values, made a list of them on excel, went through a few lists on the Internet. Money: "What would you do if money was not an issue?" I wouldn't treat it as a hypothetical question, meditate deeply on it, to a Billionaire they probably already have an answer that satisfies them, it may not be your answer. The answer I gave was pretty superficial, try to answer, doesn't matter if it's not perfect. Others on the forum may have more through and eloquent answers. Cold Approach: "How do I deal with the resistance to that idea? Does that indicate I don't care enough?" Even resistance is caring. I know that through volunteering whilst backpacking I became more at ease talking to different people. More important perhaps is the context, it's not really random as such, when talking to strangers. Strangely I have found that I'm often able to predict sometimes what people are going to say, like some weird unconscious connection in person, even works in foreign languages and sometimes things seemingly completely unrelated. Misery: "No one wants to be miserable all their life,..." Don't be so sure. From a biological perspective, it doesn't matter much if a person is miserable or not what matters is if they reproduce. Ever see the movie "Drag me to Hell"? A part from all the demon lore, deep down the main protagonist may have wanted to be miserable, depends how you read it. It is possible to be comfortable and miserable.
  21. @FinnDo you have any values to orientate yourself? What would you do if money was not an issue? When is money not an issue? I guess when you are already rich and content enough that any needs are satiated. You can be a peasant or a king, doesn't matter. Orientation. Throw darts at a map, then go there in real life? Ouija board? Talk to as many different people as possible? almost completely randomly, cold approach. Too much risk. What are you risking or are willing to Risk? Are there any benefits to be gained or are you risking something you'd be better off without.
  22. "Water? What do you mean by that? I don't understand it." This is what a fish would say if it had a human mind.~Eckhart Tolle The quote is a reference to being in sync with the moment (an actuality/being), "The Power of Now" and not to draw out towards infinity, a potentiality. The book mostly is about the accumulation of psychological junk(time/past history - "his story") and making more conscious neurotic emotions, to let go of what is not healthy.
  23. You can read philosophy, but are you doing philosophy or is it doing you? At any rate, it will alter the way you think, even if it is just packing on more brain cells devoted to verbal reasoning. I found that listening to philosophy, psychology and literature in the background is an effective way to ween myself off video games, a major addiction(no joke). "Because it has something... that you don't have, Max. It has a philosophy, and that is what makes it dangerous."
