  1. @Pernani The most direct answer i can think of is the subtlety, the nuance. The lens in which you look at an activity has a huge effect on that being observed. Take for example a professional boxer compared to regular person. Consider how much MORE the professional boxer knows and how much more he can experience through direct experience (of boxing and techniques, breathing, footwork, etc) in comparison to the normal person... Have you read Mastery by George Leonard or Robert Greene? There is so much hidden in plane sight, but the mind must be trained to see and break down the "how" instead of the "what" What i mean is, every thing you see is much more complex than meets the eye, but if we only look at things superficially they are just "objects" in our day to day level of awareness.
  2. @onacloudynight Be in the now, like you are trying to do, and get yourself a stop watch, eliminate all distractions and grab yourself a piece of paper/pen and find a quite place to sit. Then, be present again, set your timer for 10-20 minutes, then take the next step and write/plan. Keep repeating these steps and see what happens. Good luck.
  3. @Leo Gura This is such a beautiful example
  4. @Gohabsgo Intermittent fasting for spiritual growth
  5. Here is an EXCELLENT Mind Map of Autobiography of a Yogi
  6. @Gohabsgo Prolonged fasting + being emotionally heart centered, contemplating about what matters the most in life and how much life has already been experienced. Pretty much spiritual purification of sorts.
  7. @kingroboto Keep at it and you'll be amazed at how your relationship with your friends has transformed in a couple of months!
  8. @waking_dreams Right on! And once you get some momentum for yourself you create a positive feedback loop @Rinne
  9. Ever wonder why Leo always wears that same black shirt? (Or now that stylish collared one? ) It comes down to making fewer, higher quality decisions during the day. In decision making and psychology, decision fatigue refers to the deteriorating quality of decisions made by an individual after a long session of decision making. It is now understood as one of the causes of irrational trade-offs indecision making. My question for you is... How many decisions are you making a day? Are they important decisions or are you burning through vital energy on decisions that don't matter? What are some better systems you could put in place that would radically reduce or eliminate the amount of decisions you would need to make? All the best!
  10. @Joseph Maynor Better baseline awareness/less unconsciousness + Opening up the body's tension and lower baseline neurosis.
  11. @Max_V Did you experience sudden strong emotions with this? Like, flashes of emotion or trauma?
  12. @Psyche_92 Early mornings or late evenings, avoiding the day for the most part. Also helps to do it right after a (cold) shower.
  13. @molosku It comes back to what is essential for you, in your life. You want to be clear with what your boundaries are. What you willing to do, and what you will trade off for. When you strive for the only the essentials, then clarity opens up around what is most important and worth doing. Once you figure those out for yourself, (whether it be self actualization techniques or Enlightenment exercises, etc) the others fall into the nonessential category.
  14. As we begin to dive deeper into our personal practices, the question inevitably arises: "What should i do? How should i spend my time? What is working? These questions boil down to essentialism, which is the disciplined pursuit of less. Here are some quotes to ponder by Greg McKeown, who wrote "Essentialism: The Disciplined Pursuit of Less": 1.) “Essentialism is not about how to get more things done; it’s about how to get the right things done. It doesn’t mean just doing less for the sake of less either. It is about making the wisest possible investment of your time and energy in order to operate at our highest point of contribution by doing only what is essential.” 2.) “If it isn’t a clear yes, then it’s a clear no.” 3.) “Essentialism: only once you give yourself permission to stop trying to do it all, to stop saying yes to everyone, can you make your highest contribution towards the things that really matter.” 4.) “NO IS A COMPLETE SENTENCE." 5.) “It is about making the wisest possible investment of your time and energy in order to operate at our highest point of contribution by doing only what is essential.” 6.) “The reality is, saying yes to any opportunity by definition requires saying no to several others.” I hope these spark some action in you to look into Essentialism for yourself and to make the conscious effort to ruthlessly cut out everything else that doesn't help your daily practices. Also, refer to @Leo Gura 's video about LifeStyle Minimalism for more.
