  1. "Chronic Loneliness Is a Modern-Day Epidemic" - Fortune June 2016: http://fortune.com/2016/06/22/loneliness-is-a-modern-day-epidemic/ Do you feel lonely and what do you think it causes it? What role do you think today's society plays in this and could it have a much deeper meaning that just a lack of wanted social interaction? From early age I have had many friends and also lost them most of the time when going to a new school or location. Currently I'm in a really though situation and my life has changed a lot, due to some depression and other issues I slowly lost contact with many good friends. Now the weird thing is that I don't feel really lonely because I found interesting hobbies that can take lots of time but I see other people struggle with even being alone for a short period of time.. My idea is that the sense of loneliness mainly arises due the digital area and it's overstimulation. Instead of asking something, the knowledge age (smartphone) has all your answers and stops you from asking obvious questions and in the same regard can satisfy you always with an unlimited amount of 'new amazing' things. Now there are cases where older people are not able to do things physically anymore and also lack interaction which can be very lonely, but I find it sad that younger people also have a sense of being more and more alone and that might have different causes. So regarding to the initial questions, how do you experience this? How you ever tried to retreat from internet stuff to get more excitement from being still instead of always being in action?
  2. @Leo Gura Thanks for the advice! I might go to a similar retreat where you basically meditate 7 days without talking to others. You can do some walks in the forest and bring something like an empty journal or paper to draw. Would you consider drawing or writing also as a distraction and would avoiding those help even more? It's not like doing those all day, but more like short journaling.
  3. @Oleg F I know some people do air tours through grand canyon for example?
  4. It indeed comes in waves or phases, but the pursuit of self-development/self-enquiry/enlightenment is not nonsense. You have to work your whole life to get these things in tune and aligned and it's not flipping some switch and everything is suddenly perfectly fine. I do think these things can blow up some dust and make things look worse in the short-term, but in the long run it will only help to realize better what you want and how to get there. If those expensive hobbies bring you great joy then don't hesitate to do them if you can afford it. If you feel like you need to earn a lot just to be happy but don't like the time you work, then consider changing one of the two. There are so many things you don't have to pay for and can bring much joy also. Please don't blame it on self-actualization etc. Since those are only tools.
  5. I find that too much thinking and learning can be quite exhaustive and doesn't always make the quality better in the short term. It's important to find the right balance in self-actualization, creating big picture and just living life without it. The main reason why I think that there are less women on these forum in general is because your nature is closer to feeling and these things can be sometimes too abstract indeed. It's important to get a good basic understanding what it means to self-actualize and what a big picture is but the fine details can be worked out throught your life. You will confront things when necessary anyway and might come back to learn and deal with it. I think it's a good choice to follow your intuition and feelings. Come back when you feel you need it and don't let the ego tell you this is the only way to liberation. I love to discuss things from time to time, and also like to withdrawl and relax
  6. Conciousness is just being transformed, your mom and dad are actually you. But in turn those also inherited their being from their parents. It would be cool to follow the tree of life completely back to its origin if there is any at all. Thats when we were born
  7. I'm starting to build a habbit to do 40-60min power yoga a day. Feel that it is helping me already after two days
  8. @Michael569 Weird I always get increase of acne due hot showers.
  9. Ego is a tool, you decide how to use it.
  10. @Barna My mind always gets baffelded with this kind of stuff haha
  11. @Barna Yeah it's certainly a different kind haha. Haven't tried 5-meo yet but I did have a complete ego death where I just dissolved. But you are talking about dreams, you mean like recalling your 5-meo experience?
  12. It's all perspective, just look around you. You are already in infinity, maybe it looks like finite space but it's an on-going continiuum. If you stop reflecting up the past and future you become the stream which is all and everywhere. You don't even need to meditate to experience this since it will only project change while their is none. What do you think you are experiencing now? It's nature is in noway finite.
  13. Your actually experiencing infinity right now, just drop all the thoughts and judgements which limit your perception.
  14. I don't know anything about Reiki but from what I read it sounds cool! I have some social anxiety and want to work on that, don't know if you find this useful?
  15. @Prabhaker It sound like the fourth path is similar to non-duality? Would it be possible to walk all four paths sequentially and try to attain them all, even the non-becoming? Could one master all the paths, action, knowledge, love and being?
  16. In trading these numbers hold some psychological value so they have some sort of deeper meaning. 11:11 something I see often but maybe my mind is unconciously spotting them and then making me aware, while other numbers it stays unconcious. In geometry/symbolic mathmatics these numbers represent a certain stage of the universe unfolding, somewhat like a flower. You can find a lot about it online.
  17. Reduce the time spent in hot shower or even better would be to cut out the hot water. Cold water showers are really good for your skin!
  18. Can someone explain in short what the major types of yoga are? It seems there are many different brenches and I have no clue what to search for and what they offer. Until now I have been doing some kundalini yoga exercises from youtube.
  19. Epic!
  20. Check out the literature written by Walter Russel. He has some very interesting ideas, like the universe being completely electric. Here is a video about some of his work:
  21. If things go right the future will keep on advancing and our understanding of the world will become more and more complete. Some people say we can expect a technological singularity where knowledge and technology will change the world so drastically we will not be able to keep up with the change. I think we already see that many people (especially older people) are slowly falling outside the technological era. The world has drastically changed since the industrial revolution and information exchange is at unbelievable rates (will reach around 2.7 Zetabytes till 2020!). We practically created as much information in the 21th centuary as in entire human existence, maybe even more. Big data will eventually reveal many underlying mechanics of all interactions of things. Machine learning will become more and more precise in predicting the future, weather, population growth, basically everything you can imagine. The question is, what will all this knowledge do with the human psychology? If you can predict your entire life, the mystical experience of new experiences fades slowly away. Reality becomes more and more solid and imagination which is our biggest driving force shrinks. What would you do if you know what most of your entire life would look like? The surprise element is what makes me really wonder but if all becomes so obvious then what is there to dream about? The other side of the coin would be a life where you know nothing, not even instincts and would die pretty quickly due to survival reasons. The middle of ignorance or not-knowing and knowing everything is the golden zone where you have enough ability to stay alive, build a life with some certainty but can always be amazed with new things. What do you guys think? Will all this new knowledge about psychological/physical patterns or cycles make the world a much better palace or is ignorance really bliss? I like knowledge more than anyone I know but also see the major downsides people don't really grasp yet. The world is a weird place haha..
  22. @JustASimpleBuggler Follow your feelings and rational mind and you will come to the right conclusion. Obsession can fade away with time so if it's really problematic, give it time. Just be mindful in your thoughts and actions.
  23. Don't try to push it away, try to accept it. If you find your behavior negative to the extent that it is hurting you, try to keep it in the realm of thought. It might take practice and make you a little void at first but tackling such problems can really improve your body/mind control in the long run.
  24. I would really like to hear everyones opinion about this and are curious how different people from the world view the current state of being. The world is slowly waking up which is great but it also feels the biggest task is still ahead of us. I'm still kind of sceptical where things are going if I look at global warming, religious radicalism, refugee crisis, political movements and some economic flaws (e.g. Venuzuela's hyperinflation). This is not intented to be pessimistic but more like reviewing things that possibly can be improved when thinking and working together. If there is any place where we can start an active movement to better the major problems in the world, then it would be this forum! What do you guys think? What are the major problems you see locally, nationally, personally and globally?
