  1. This has to happen. The time is right. When this thread was created I wasn't sure that Lex would be a good fit for Leo but Lex has since significantly broadened the type of guests and the type of conversations on his podcast. Lex is constantly trying to ask his guests the big questions, about Consciousness, Love, Free Will, Death. Yet every time they fail to give any substantial answers. I've never heard any of his guests, ever, give a good answer on the question of 'what is consciousness?'. Leo are you still interested in doing these kinds of podcasts? If not, we should close the thread and leave it at that. Twitter @'s might be the best route for getting his attention, as long as a few of us do it.
  2. Not at all. Most teachers have a very small % of 'successfull' students, in pretty much any field or domain. Yea it varies a bit, but generally speaking the vast majority of people, 99.99% of people that watch Leo will not be 'successfull'. Particularly in spiritual domains! The vast majority of people who have taken Leo's LP course will not have developed a strong robust career. Same with any course, teaching, university course, whatever. What is not obvious to most is that the 'successful' students, those that have realised some of the same truths as Leo, do not need to speak about it and mostly keep themselves to themselves. I consider myself one of them, but even saying that will be interpreted as arrogance or even a dogmatic blind follower. I disagree with Leo on many things, yet I have realised some of the things he points people towards. And I do not speak about them because I don't feel like I need to.
  3. It is completely spontaneous and automatic. I do not choose to do them. Anyone doing them without psyches is just messing about trying to be spiritual. I also don't have the 'idea to do them'. They are completely automatic and spontaneous. There's no decision process. The 5-MeO seems to unlock or release energy in the body which makes it do those movements. It's very similar to meditation kriyas (is that the right word?) where you see people's bodies swirling, vibrating, moving in different ways. It's just energy being moved around the body. But with 5-MeO the movements are symmetrical specifically because of the ego-dissolution. The body just automatically wants to move in symmetry. I also said it adds nothing to the experience. I'm not claiming they do. If Martin is claiming that, then fine, he's doing his thing. Like I also said, the body movements settle down fairly quickly and then after that I sit near motionless and go into deep contemplation for the majority of the trip/ I do suspect that Martin kinda accentuates the movements. Like I've never felt the need lift my ass into the air.
  4. Very much disagree with this. I always have these symmetrical movements when taking 5-MeO. Every time. It is totally spontaneous and automatic. There is no-one doing it. Martin isn't doing it for show. It kinds feels like Reality is dancing with itself and it would feel quite strange to want/try to stop it. It would be an egoic/intentional effort to stop it. However it doesn't go on forever, usually stops after a while, at least for me, and then more contemplative/inquiry stuff can take place. So it does seem a little strange that Martin does it for so long. It definitely seems like some people have these bi-lateral movements and some don't. They don't provide anything 'more' to the experience of 5-MeO, and don't facilitate the awakening in any way. It's just a side thing that happens, but completely automatic and almost like it has to happen. Similar to the intense full body vibrations that I always have. It's why I've always said 5-MeO is very body-centered for me. Usually the body stuff happens at the beginning of the trip and then wind down fairly quickly.
  5. Whilst the video has 230k views, most people will watch it and forget about it in a few hours. People watching it aren't interested in this work, they're just looking for entertainment. And thats fine, I'm not judging them. It's just not a serious video because I know the creator and the viewers have no genuine interest in the subject. Let alone actual awakening or insight.
  6. @Rasheed Nah i don't remember anything from books i've read. But I do have a general sense of the books I've read and usually a handful or sometimes just 1 useful piece of advice. You gotta be intentional about turning the book into a few actionable bits of advice to test out. It's funny that you're profile pic is one of Cal's books because they're my favorite non-fiction books and some of the only books that have actually changed my life. But i don't remember quotes or text passages from the books, just general insights and messages. But usually you need to read a significant part of the book to understand those general insights and messages and know how to implement them into your life. I find that books tend to have the biggest impact in the short term. You read a book, get a few pieces of actionable advice, test out those actions in the short term. See whats works, what doesn't etc. Something might work in the short term but then you forget about it 2 years down the line. Nothing wrong with that and I think thats pretty normal for most people. I don't read much these days though. It really is true that most books could be condensed into 1 chapter.
  7. @Molaric Yea its a tough one to overcome, but it can be done. The thing is you don't really want to quit video games. You're just telling yourself it's a good thing to quit, so you end up fighting with yourself and making things more difficult. Which I understand because I'm in that position as well. I'm mildly addicted to video games atm, but it's not too crazy and it doesn't stop me doing work. I play maybe 1-2 hours a day. So I understand your position. When I've quit games in the past I've often have thoughts like 'What will my life be like in 5 years if I quit now vs if I kept on playing?', and 'I know I'm not gonna play this game forever so whats the difference between quitting sometime in the future vs quitting now. I may as well just quit now and do other things'. But here's a few ideas and ways forward: 1) Force yourself to go cold turkey. This is actually possible. The trick is to push through the initial withdrawals which may be days, may be weeks depending on the game and your level of addiction. You have to accept and come to terms with the fact that you're not gonna play league ever again. It's like a breakup. You're not ever gonna see that person again and it fucking sucks. Same with video games. But you will get over it. You're not gonna be crying about it for the rest of your life. But you'll be glad that you let it go. And then when you inevitably have a bunch of free time you start thinking about other things you could be doing. You automatically fill up that time with other things which helps to forget about the video game. 2) Another idea is to just swap it for another game. I haven't ever played league but I've heard its a life destroying brain rot of a game. So i'd say any other game is probably gonna be better for you. I mean there's so many other games that you could play on a more casual basis that still allow you chill out and have fun, but don't destroy your attention and time like LOL does. 3) A common bit of advice here is to swap the video game out for some other activity, like sport, some other hobby, maybe even pickup, or going to the gym. But it needs to be something that is really really fun and has the same 'chilled' easy going vibe that playing video games has, otherwise you'll still want to go back to the video games. 4) Another common piece of advice is to have a ridiculously strong and awesome vision for your life that overpowers your desire to play video games. This is definitely possible but video games are so damn addictive and easy to access these days that i'd say this is pretty hard to achieve. Anyway, hope that helps.
  8. This is pretty common for people. Have you tried just using a chair rather than cross-legged?
  9. Apparently the pizza box thing was just speculation from the original journalist who wrote the story. I think it was all just a coincidence and weird timing.
  10. @Razard86 Chill man, he's just asking for practical info about how to go on retreat. Honestly I'm not sure how to explain how it feels. Ego backlash might come afterwards, but personally i think that term is overused a bit. I used to eat a bunch of junk food after my retreats as a way to comfort myself but only for like 1 meal. I didn't keep eating junk food for days on end. The other main addiction detox is from the internet, social media, youtube, news. It's just an uncomfortable, uneasy feeling not having any of that immediately at hand. You end up just sitting around literally doing nothing, which most people can't do easily and don't know how it feels. So that just takes some time to get used to IMO.
  11. Anyone can do it, even if you don't meditate much. But it''ll be hard in the beginning if you're not comfortable or used to doing hour-long sits. Saying that, you get used to the long sits pretty quickly. After the first day or two you get into the routine and it becomes pretty easy. The hardest part is dealing with the boredom and addiction detoxes you have to go through. 10 day retreats are a complete and total removal of all stimulation and distraction. There literally nothing to do except meditate, eat and sleep. The meditation stuff is fairly easy IMO, although that too gets pretty repetitive after day 6 or 7 lol. I'll probably be attending another 10-day in April or May. I need to get back on retreat and do some serious meditation again.
  12. @LiberatedMonkey Omg you're 21, jesus. Try being in this position when you're 30 or 40. Stop worrying so much.
  13. @Jannes Yea saying reality is made of atoms doesn't explain anything. Because what are atoms? It's the same question all the way down (what is anything?), so really you don't have to go down to any particular level or scale to understand reality. Just answer the question, what is a tree? The game character analogy always works well here. The game character can do science for a trillion years trying to understand the nature of his reality, but fundamentally it was always just right there in front of him. More science and thinking is just more delusion.
  14. @kray Dno what that video is but it's not representative of pickup at all. This is a very good example of what normal day-game pickup looks like. Nothing flashy, just casual chats with girls you see throughout your day.
  15. It definitely is if you've had prior breakthroughs with 5-MeO-DMT.
  16. @bliss54 Dude i'm nearly 30 and been living with my dad for last 3 months because my career isn't taking off/providing the income I need. Also have nowhere near 240k in savings lmao. Everyone's down on the stock market, including myself. Whats stopping you from taking 30k out of your investments and getting a place for yourself whilst you get other things sorted out? 30k could easily cover bills and costs for the next year.
  17. Surprised this hasn't got more responses. We can make distinctions about what is alive and what isn't, and those distinctions are useful to make but relative to the individual, the society, culture, time, etc. Fundamentally, before any distinctions are made, everything is just one. There is no distinction or difference between what we think is 'alive' and what is not. There is no such thing as 'aliveness', or a 'thing that is alive'. These are relative distinctions we're imagining and then placing onto reality for self-survival. Where is the line between a thing that is alive and a thing that is not? At what point does a thing become 'alive'? Who gets to decide that? Who gets to decide where that line is. Well, no one. There is no point where a thing goes from not alive to alive. No point where a molecule or particle or virus, goes from non alive to alive. See how we create these distinctions?
  18. I'd say remote jobs are definitely your best bet. When you're working at a store, office, shop, whatever, you're basically working non-stop 9-5, even if you don't have work to do. Everyone knows you don't need to work solidly 9-5. With a remote job, you get to distribute your work however you want. You can easily take half an hour off here and there, even an hour off if you're not too busy. I used to take the entire afternoon off sometimes because I had no meetings or work to do, lol. This is exactly what I did whilst I was working towards my new career. I literally had a few hours of work to do each day, at most. The rest of the time I was 'online', but actually just doing my illustration work. I was actually working professionally as an illustrator quite a long time before I quit my previous 9-5 because I could distribute the work throughout the day. Lots of people are working 2 remote jobs these days. What work did I do? I worked in digital marketing. I was a Paid search specialist (also known as PPC) for a year, and a paid social specialist for 7 months, which are both similar entry level jobs. I didn't have any experience when I started. Paid search and paid social jobs require you to create and manage online ad campaigns across google, facebook, youtube, Instagram etc. Other types of digital marketing: SEO, copywriting etc. I'd suggest looking for entry level remote digital marketing jobs. Usually you'll work within an agency, can be very large (1000 people) or small (15 people) who then work with companies and brands to do the digital marketing. Or maybe you work in an office for 6 months, learn how to do the job (probably easier to learn in person tbh), and then quit and find a remote job with those skills. Definitely possible. Easy said than done of course but i know it 'actually' works as a career path because that's literally what i did.
  19. @Dorje Chang You beat me to it. Very impressed with it so far. @Leo Gura you should check this out!
  20. @Leo Gura So i'm not sure if you're referring to Actualized.org as a whole, or whether you mean just the website? I don't really have anything to say about the website or future courses so I'll focus on the videos. I think you've really hit a limit with the quality of your videos. As in, they're usually extremely high quality, deep, and arguably some of, if not the most profound, wise videos on Youtube. There's not much else you can do with your current content to improve I don't think. That's not to say you shouldn't continue making them and discussing new topics/insights - you absolutely should, of course. I've always felt they could be a little shorter but I fully understand why they are as long as they are, and there is absolutely an audience for long-form content these days. So its besides the point. To improve Actualized.org I think you could develop the brand in other ways. One of the things I think you could do to, not necessarily improve, but certainly expand the brand is to make more content for people who are just starting out with spiritual stuff, spiritual newbies or even rationalists, materialists, science people. Normies basically. I just think there is a massively untapped audience of people who need a more rational, kinda logical perspective on spirituality, and I know ultimately this work is completely illogical and irrational, but you gotta meet people where they're at. Like how would you start to explain God to a normie on the street? I'm constantly thinking about I would explain this spiritual stuff to someone who has no experience whatsoever. I think there is a huge amount on potential in this area. Because literally no one fucking gets it. There is so much ignorance around spirituality and psychedelics. As soon as someone starts to hear about spirituality they switch off - how do we change that? Even people who engage with spirituality, go on meditations retreats etc, they're clueless. I've spoken to so many people on retreats that honestly have no idea what spirituality is about. So what I'm saying it, and you're not gonna like this, but I think you need to dumb down your content and make it more accessible for normies. If someone has never watched an actualized.org video, how would you explain the true power of psychedelics in a way that doesn't make you sound like a crazy guy? I'm also still adamant that engaging with other channels and online communities will be extremely fruitful and advantageous for Actualized.org and arguably your wallet. There's so much wisdom here, but not enough reach IMO. But again, you'd have to dumb down your stuff, cut out all the advanced spirituality, make spirituality more grounded, more relatable for normies. God Mouse is a no-go, for obvious reasons i'd hope. I think your discussions on those podcasts with Charlie Houpert and Curt were an exception and whilst they were extremely enjoyable for regular Actualize viewers, I personally don't think many people converted over from those channels. Dumbing the teachings down will also reduce the amount of criticism and flack you get from new people. Increasing your engagement with other channels more often would also require a bit of cleanup of your own image. Anyway, just my thoughts! I'd be happy with any changes, always a fan
  21. @DreamCryX It'll take years if you want to get extremely good at gaming. But is that really one of your goals? It's a great goal, don't get me wrong. 100% worthwhile. But if you're just looking for some relationship experience then you don't need to be doing crazy amounts of game every week.
  22. @acidgoofy Nice, might give it a watch!
  23. Yea nothing has ever happened in the past. No birth, no WW2, no dinosaurs, no big bang - only concepts, thoughts, ideas happening now. People might say, 'Yea but obviously I was born, obviously things did happen at some point. My past experiences did happen at some point'. And the answer is no, they didn't. There is no 'past space' for things to have happened. Once things 'disappear' or end from experience, it's like it never happened. It's quite difficult to fully grasp that there is Absolutely nothing outside of this moment. It's like the space behind your field of vision. Not even nothing. Void. Can't describe it. Important for you to get this for yourself though. Don't believe anyone.
