You will waste a lot of time trying to figure out everything on your own. There is books about everything now, just use them. That doesn't mean you should take everything on blind fate, you should still comtemplate and go do practical stuff to improve specifics areas of your life, books are only there to fasten the process, they aren't magic pills.

Like every step you take, when you wash something, the touch of your fingers when you write/read, when you eat/drink, the wind/sunlight on your face, the possibilities are infinite. Now don't think because you have lots of thoughts that you have "lost it", if you are conscious with lots of thoughts, even drama, that's fine. It's even great, because you can practice and go deeper like you never did. The thing you want to know more intimately is the thing that is conscious of your thoughts, so if you're conscious of it, it doesn't matter what is happening. The need for a "clear mind" is utter bullshit, even masters have thoughts.
