  2. This is depression, it's not because you aren't all emo about it that it isn't. Just buy the life purpose course and do it dilligently, start meditation and mindfulness work, spend more time in nature. At some point you will laugh at the fact you had those kind of thoughts, there is so much to life if you don't live it as a sheep.
  3. If you want fast and deep results, meditate 3 hours per day for 3 months and walk for 1 hour in nature too. Also, do a lot of mindfulness work. If you do all that, you'll be in a constant meditative mindset.

  11. @Shir You said you're spiritual, but what does it mean for you ? You never mentioned meditation or consciousness, or zen and buddhism (or anything related). Your answer to your depression lies here, like you said, nothing else will work, because nothing else is an answer to the core problem, it would be at best a temporary fix. Everything you said, if I had to put into words, was my depression in a nutshell (with few variations of course). So I know by experience that the only way you could enjoy life again is to go so meta on your thoughts and your emotions that you see they are total illusions and misconception of what life should be. There are probably something you didn't tell us about your past that created this depression, this or you're in some kind of dark knight of the soul (which is a good thing if you go through it). I would suggest to go to a zen community/dojo and trying to practice there, not only people will really want to help you (in a sense they can't, but they will be there for you). You should also read "The Power Of Now" from Eckhart Tolle, and read it with a right brain mindset, don't try to analyse what he said too much, rather try to "feel" what he says. Start a meditation practice, 20 minutes everyday, for the rest of your life. You need to start being more and more conscious too. You also need to do shadow work, to really know what's going on in you. I promise that if you do all that, you will get out of your depression. If you do all this, it's only a matter of time.

Enlightenment is very practical because it removes all your suffering, and you can supress almost every suffering even before enlightenment (almost, because you will still fear to get killed/physically injured). Not only that, but if you supress your suffering, then you'll stop making people and animals around you suffer too, which ultimately leads to make them happier in the long run. The only way to make it a distraction, is if you stop doing what you know you should do in your life to grow as an individual, both emotionally and in your life purpose (which is called spiritual bypassing). Otherwise there is no contradiction with living a "normal" life, except you will slowly but surely cut out all the crap that aren't genuine to you (food/hobbies/friendship etc ...). Whatever you do isn't anti-spiritual, nothing is by definition, it's just that the ways you can approach things in life make you suffer or not, that's all.
