Just with comedy shows and cracking jokes, probably not, tons of people do just that everyday. Like everything there is a genuine and a "veiled" way to do things. The genuine humor is because you are naturally in tune with life, there is a natural flow to it, it comes from detachment of basically everything. The "veiled" humor is there because people hide their pain (coming from attachments) behind pleasure, in this case laughter -> comedy show/stand up/telling jokes all the time.

No I can't, and I'm sorry I can't help you more. With that much desire to be free, with proper contemplation, you could awaken pretty fast though, And those problems wouldn't be seen as much of as a problems.

Ok then maybe changing your degree might be a good idea. It's not about religion or a more conscious lifestyle per say (at least not directly). You could make your parents understand what other degree you really want to do.

Also you need to understand Sidra, Freedom is totally internal and not external, you can be free even in your situation.
