You don't have to believe anything. Not believing in anything doesn't mean it's not true, just that you don't know if it is true or not. From what I can see, for you, either it's true or bullshit, that's not the way to go. You need to be open minded, which means not taking anything you hear as a fact, which is the same as believing something without first hand experience Not only that, but being open minded also means that when you don't necessarily believe in something, you still let the possibility of it to be true in your mind, until you verify it for yourself in your own experience (or not depending if the subject matter to you or not). That's way different than either believing or not believing, because it's the same thing really. In the first one you believe something is true, in the second you BELIEVE something is not true. Both are still a position you take in your mind, that's still closed mindedness.
