Cultish thinking does seem to be present in every area of culture. From an outsider's perspective, it is easy to see any sort of "spiritual" group as a cult. It is safe and warranted, there's a lot of crap that people invent. When the work is real and deep it gets weird for some people. Have to contemplate what a cult is.

Why isn't a person at a bar straight about his or her intentions? Why go through pretending to be interested in the other person when getting laid is why you're there in the first place? What if you were honest about it? "I want to get laid." We have to go through a game of pretension. Do you really care about the other person, or are you using the interaction just to have sex? I know that doesn't work, interesting to see ways in which being direct is discouraged and undermined in our culture.

Sounds like some sort of emotional reaction on your part. People can be exceptionally skilful. I know it can be hard not to resent masters but once you pay attention, you realize that you can learn from them. In fact, it is likely the most effective way for you to learn. Being willing to learn from a master can make you feel like a little person, on the other hand, your ability can improve dramatically thanks to them.

@Razard86 Not clear to me what you said. Authenticity and integrity as principles, along with other things. This relates more to style than substance. I was pressing you to get clearer in your experience so I can better understand your posts. What do you mean by non-dual state? What are the two minds that you say the body has? It also sounds like you're turning a concept of enlightenment into a cosmology or model (karma, chakras), if that's what you're talking about.

We could say that biology constructs sex and a great deal of gender. Gender also seems to involve a lot of concept. Anyway I'm not interested in this now.

Nice, from that place you can now ask deeper questions. "Hey, how come I'm bored? What is this experience called boredom? Why is it there?", for example.

It hasn't up to this point, so it wouldn't be difficult to extrapolate.

You're focusing on intellect. I want us to focus on experientially locating self. This isn't enlightenment either but a way to ballpark one's contemplative efforts. Where is the clarity about you? Both communications have the "stink" of intellect. What I hear is extrapolation, process, feeling-state. Don't sound like direct experience, likely state changes. They can be healing, blissful, and awe-inspiring. Let's postulate enlightenment is you and now. Attempting to communicate it would show up naturally and simply, as nothing is closer to you than you. In short, we have to grasp who each of us is.

Maybe the expression should be: What rock are you living under?

Fair. On the other hand, using the same words doesn't mean we're talking about the same thing. I intent to be grounded on experience. You're still judging and comparing "answers" you've heard to what I said. An idea is an idea, where you hear it is secondary. If someone comes from a genuine breakthrough, that's what relevant, not their reputation, personality, or medium. You could be a homeless man living on the streets.

Observe, pay attention.

What do you want? Why do you want it? Create a strategy aligned with your purpose and from that establish specific goals. Move towards your desired direction little by little. People pursue their wants even without spirituality. Happiness can occur for you whether one's desires are achieved or not. What is happiness?
