  1. How do you define winning? Also him having half the country's support means absolutely nothing. His voters are just as delusional as he is, hence why they voted for him. Sadly, most people are deeply misinformed and misguided (both on the left and right). The average American is fed a constant stream of lies via mainstream media and isn't open minded enough to seek out independent media, let alone do their own research to validate what their being told. It is for this reason that voters by and large can't be trusted to make conscionable decisions at the ballot box.
  2. That's absolutely terrible news. Unless you want to hasten the collapse of global industrial civilization. Another 8 years of Trump and his denial & inaction on climate change is a death sentence to the planet and a segway into eco-fascism. And that's aside from the broken healthcare system we have, the student loan crisis, increased wealth inequality, increased corruption in politics etc. None of which he will even attempt to address.
  3. I agree but perhaps not for the same reason. Its a distraction and its such a weak position to impeach him on that it may ultimately work in his favor come election time. I am no fan of Trump and I do believe he should be held accountable. However, we should hold him accountable on acts that ARE actually provable & impeachable offenses. I take the same position that Tulsi takes on this. The fact that so many progressives are supporting impeachment on this issue is a strategic blunder. We are basically being manipulated by the neo-liberal establishment. Just because we both (meaning progressives & neo liberals) despise Trump doesn't mean we go into battle with them. We must stand on principle regardless of how much a despise Trump. We beat Trump in the issues that matter. Student loan debt. Climate change. A broken healthcare system. Bribary in politics. etc etc
  4. Great commentary on the current fiaso on capitol hill
  5. On a side note. There has actually been some relatively high conscious leaders in Africa post colonialism. Check out these two. Both of these men proposed great things for their countries and were tragically murdered. Thomas Sankara https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_Sankara Patrice Lumumba https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Patrice_Lumumba Unfortunately many parts of Sub Saharan Africa are at the losing end of global capitalism. Its not as simple as categorizing these countries stage Purple/Red (which does play a significant role) without mentioning the role that exploitation and foreign intervention has played on the continent.
  6. Criticism of Israel does not equate to anti-Semitism.
  7. This is a problem since we are in a moment in human history where we need an incredible amount of cooperation on a global scale to address the existential crisis we all face - The Climate Crisis. If nation states solely focus on serving their own best interest little if no substantial progress can be made. And we are running out of time. We cannot wait for the collective conscious of humankind to rise to the point where we it prioritizes something as urgent as the climate crisis. That is a sure path to extinction quite frankly.
  8. I am not familiar with UK politics but based on what I've seen with Boris we can pretty much kiss any hope of UK pushing legit policies on climate change goodbye. At least for the foreseeable future. Very sad day for UK and the world for that matter. The ironic thing is that the very policies that have pushed Britons to vote for a Brexit are the same set of policies that they continue to vote for. Similar to America, it seems a large segment of their population vote against their own best interest, suffers the consequences and then subsequently moves futher and further to the right after the fallout. It all boils down to a lack education and consciousness at the end of the day. A nation can rise no further than the collective conscious of its people. And I am beginning to accept the reality that people get the government they deserve.
  9. The most powerful thing you can do (aside from making small lifestyle changes) is get out there and join any protests and social movements that bring attention to climate change (Extintion Rebellion come to mind). I am all for making small changes in my lifestyle that is environmentally friendly. Personally I've given up meat, work from home as much as possible, and limit flying to only once a year. However, I know that its a fart in the wind compared to what really needs to happen. I have come to the realization that it is the system itself that needs to change. Those in power would like us to believe that small lifestyle changes will mitigate climate change substantially. This is a lie and a distraction from the systematic change that needs to take place.
  10. As Bruce Lee would say "Don't look at the finger (or in this case nose) or you will miss ALLLL that heavenly glory..."
  11. Actualized.org has served me well. It has completely changed my life by introducing me to new concepts. For this I have immense gratitude. However, I do notice how many people get so caught up in concept and have a rather rigid understanding of spirituality. I would like to see more conversation on actual spiritual practice. I don't think this is any fault of Actualized.org or Leo though.
  12. Yes, I feel that globalization is inevitable at a certain point. However, when it is a byproduct of illegal interventions in foreign conflicts it can have disastrous consequences. I can only imagine the level of nationalism we'll see when there are hundreds of millions of climate refugees seeking refuge in western societies. Rapid migration can destabilize entire societies as your post eluded to. Its something that honestly worries me. Not because of the disintegration of ethnic and cultural identities but the ultra nationalist reaction that'll be inspired from it.
  13. Lets also keep in mind that the Nationalism in Europe is partly fueled by the refugee crisis due to conflicts in Syria and Libya. Both of which were made a thousands times worse by Western intervention.
  14. I find movies that trigger strong emotions (whether they be positive or negative) usually are the ones the raise my consciousness for me.
  15. Also may I add that any supposed interference that Russia has ever done is miniscule in comparison to 1 The interference we do in other countries politics 2 The rigging that the Republican party engages in EVERY election cycle AND 3 The corporate Democrat's attempt to undermine Bernie in 2016 The Russiagate conspiracy was not only misleading to the American people. It was outright dangerous.
  16. Trump has been the most aggressive president towards Russia we've had in a while. Look at his policies towards Russia since he's been in office. Pulling out of nuclear deals, starting a new arms race etc. We're closer to nuclear confrontation with Russia than we've ever been and the media continues to push this false narrative. I personally think Trump uses the Russian collusion narrative for his own benefit. He probably has some connection with Russian oligarchs but thats about it. Here is a great analysis about the Russiagate hoax .
  17. I applaud your optimism. We have the means to make radical change but not the will. At least not yet.
  18. True. However, both of those events took place in relatively stable climates and ecosystems.
  19. Thank you for sharing this. I am not really hopeful that we'll be able to save human civilization as we know it. Even the green new deal is a bit of a bandaid fix to the systematic issues we face as a global human society. We'd need to rapidly de-escalate our production and growth to mitigate the most of the harmful impacts of abrupt global warming and I don't foresee this happening. This would require unprecedented global cooperation and draconian like measures for energy reduction. Maintaining our current energy output using alternative "green" energy is unrealistic.
  20. According to US military officials This is pretty concerning. What do you guys think?
  21. This is true. However, I think he is the most electable canditate given his popularity and current poll numbers. I know of many Trump supporters who'd vote for Bernie but wouldnt cast their ballots for Biden in a million years. And if it comes down to Biden/Trump or even Warren/Trump, there is high probability that we'll have to endure another 4 years of Trump. Also a lot of Americans are willfully politically ignorant. After leaving the rally I spoke to many of my friends and family about it and some had no idea that Bernie was even running. Others have simply given up all hope in the political system and do not vote at all. If there is one thing that can be said about Trump's base it is that they do and will VOTE. This is why we need a candidate that will rouse people to get off their behinds and vote and perhaps win over a portion of Trumps white working class base.
  22. Joker himself is apolitical and an agent of chaos. I think the film in itself is a critique against capitalism and wealth inequality. In such systems people like the Joker can be potentially bred and take advantage of all the chaos. Also its pretty funny how many on the right wing side of the spectrum totally miss that this film is a critique of capitalism and the disparities it creates.
  23. I volunteered at one last week in Michigan. It was totally awesome. Everyone was so friendly and down to earth. I truly think he's the only candidate capable of beating Trump. Hopefully the DNC wont sabotage his chances this time around.
