  1. So, been thinking about one particular thing that stuck with me from watching one of Leo's episodes, I believe the title of the video was something about toxic life purpose or something, which was to guide people towards the light so to speak, and choose a greater purpose in life. Leo in this video gives example of how people may get like a coding job working to create drones that will be used to kill people in warfare. And it got me thinking, there are so many of these inventions that self-actualized people created. An example would be Einstein, we see him as this great man of scientific genius. Brought a bunch of new discoveries into the world, but it's been said that his contributions to science helped people to create the first nuclear bomb. You can work at some magnum opus of whatever and it may have a very negative effect on humanity, but not deliberately. Now I said there are many examples of this but I don't know too many on the top of my head, but most of technology can be used in harmful ways. It may be worthwhile to look into Ted Kacsinzkys writings, yes a very controversial figure, but he may have a valid point about technological progress.
  2. maybe this was the wrong, place to post this, should've been the career place. uh. well it kinda suits personal development i thought.. im new here so
  3. I can't remember which video it was but Leo Gura made a video about in order to discover ones purpose so to speak, one has to listen to ones intuition. Atleast he mentioned that. Well that's what i'm trying to do now, I can't picture myself a life of routine and a boring 9-5 lifestyle forever. I spend a lot of time in front of my computer and I'm currently studying to become a programmer, but I paradoxically loathe the idea of working for some bland corporation that produces something I couldn't care less about. Funnily enough I tend to get innovative ideas for projects I could do on my own, and i'm thinking of going more towards that direction than the other. the dilemma is this either you work for someone and earn a decent salary which enables you to live in a stable fashion or you take a risk and do something crazy that may or may not succeed. And i find taking the risk a little bit more entertaining than the former alternative. Am fully aware that my unrealistic ideas may backfire economically, but spiritually it seems to be a win-win situation, i'll be energized doing something that i enjoy, plus I might also make whatever programming project i have in mind part of a portfolio for seeking a job, when that becomes relevant. How would you approach a similar dilemma? I personally don't see anything wrong with the 9-5, like i understand why people would choose that so i am sympathetic to that, after all we wouldn't have a functioning civilization without that sort of business. But you gotta admit it's kind of boring, atleast in theory. some people may enjoy it though so..ye. i'll shut up now
  4. yeah reality seems like it's stuck, not enough novelty. or like. the laws of physics arent being bended in accordance with your will. but that's kind of an argument against solipsism, if reality was solipsistic it would've been destroyed by now. maybe some precautions were made before generating this dream. Like maybe a thousand lifetimes ago the dreamer (god) made a perfect version of reality that cannot be altered within the dream. sort of like creating a video game and then playing it yourself, but removing your god mode and memory. iunno.
