  1. I haven't quit TV completely yet, but I am def considering it. Just wanted to ask what are some of the things people do instead? I read but I can't spend that long doing it, sometimes if my energy is low I just want to chill and watch tv, so what do you do in these instances?
  2. I think it comes down to your intentions, for example when you think about money is it coming from a worried fearful place as in 'I haven't got enough money' or 'if only I had enough money', as you're worrying about it I'm guessing this is close. If this is the case then this is a scarcity mindset. If you think about the law of attraction, which you've mentioned what they're talking about is an abundance mentality, which is basically telling your body you've already experienced whatever you're trying to experience (check out joe dispenza on YouTube, very interesting!), and then the experience eventually manifests, this can also be seen when athletes visualise success. So what you may be doing is thinking visualising your lack of money, or dwelling on the fact that you haven't got money, now your body is going to react the same way it does if you visualise success and manifest whatever you think, ie lack. Going back to the athlete example if a 100m runner were to think 'I don't want to lose' that has a very different affect to 'I'm going to take it to my limit and run the best race I can'. Also ask yourself do I really want to make money, not in a negative way but what is the core of your intention, as in what do you want the money for? In this case you can bypass the money and get to what you actually want. For example you could say I want a better quality of life, maybe a better life for you is actually moving to Thailand where it's cheap and you'd enjoy it more, you don't necessarily need money for it. So look at the why of the money, because just wanting money is like saying I want energy, well what will you use the energy for once you get it?
  3. Shiny happy people by REM is actually about depression and meds. Good points about lyrics getting into your psyche, I would say it's all about your awareness. When I was young I would look for an identity in some music, which most teenagers do, obviously if this is the case it can affect you a lot. It's all about detachment from it and seeing it as entertainment
  4. Ok first of all let me recommend a book if I can 'towards a psychology of being' by maslow, he literally looks at the psychology behind 'great' people and looks at what makes them great. One of the themes is whether your looking for self improvement coming from a deficient mind set which is basically you feel you're incomplete and you're trying to become complete, or if you have a growth mindset which means you feel you are complete already and anything you do is growing you as a person. But a big factor is being able to do whatever your doing not as a means to get somewhere else but because it's something you like to do, so being is an end in itself rather than a means to an end. So basically enjoy the process rather than being results focused will actually cuter intuitively get you better results. Taking your 'I'm ugly' example, yes you're right if you've been convinced you're ugly and you also buy into your thoughts then this will affect you, but really this is a learnt behavior. Any opinion like this I'm ugly, intelligent, confident, dumb whatever, has to be measured by what you think you 'should be', which you've mentioned in your post when you've said you know people like... So its not that someone is objectively 'ugly' but dependent on society projection of beauty and your comparison to that they could be labelled as ugly, but this is an ever changing definition. So its not about trying to convince yourself you're not ugly, it's about seeing and loving yourself without putting labels on what you 'should be'. If you grew up outside of society in a forest, you would have no negative beliefs because there wouldn't be a comparison. So they're not true. What you're suggesting is that you fight your beliefs, how would you go about doing that? Do you ignore them? Do you argue with them? Has that worked in your experience? You answered your own question with people that are in tune with themselves, being in tune with yourself would imply that there is peace and no internal conflict, to get to that state you would have to fully accept yourself. The thing is when you do accept yourself and stop fighting, you save a crazy amount of energy but also you can focus all that energy I'm one direction which really can give you the power to be 'great'. But another thing you should ask yourself is why exactly do you want to be 'great '? Is it because you don't think you're enough? (deficiency mindset), is it to prove to other people? Get down to the route of it If you can. Bit of a ramble but hope it helps
  5. No probs. Transform is probably the wrong word to use because it's the idea that at some point in the future I'll completely change who I am, the fact is you'll always be you and as such to be the best you, you have to fully embrace every aspect. I get what you're saying about beliefs, but, (and this is just my personal experience), you need beliefs really just to tell you to completely trust in your true self. So you don't need to add things on, that's what usually happens, you think once I change my mind set or once I do this or that then I'll be ok, really all this does is set your salvation away from the present moment. Ultimately what you need to do is let go of all these beliefs and stop trying to be great and just be, your natural self is great but your ego gets in the way thinking it needs to do stuff to be great. Think about meditation, that is literally the practice of letting go and letting your mind be. Eventually if you can bring that state of mind into your normal life you'll be your true self all the time. But acceptance is also accepting your limiting beliefs and realising that they aren't you and don't have power of you, they're just like old programs running on a computer, you don't need to use them but they're there so just accept them. The only reason why these beliefs have an effect on you is because you don't let them be you try and actively get rid of them which makes them more powerful. Say to yourself there's nothing I can do about them so no point in trying and just leave them be, eventually they will diminish and fade away
  6. There's another idea that all time is simultaneous, so if you think there is no time in terms of past or future, there is just one thing happening all at once. If you think about it the only thing that makes time relevant is our conciousness, without time wouldn't exist. There was nothing and then there was you all of a sudden, now because of your consciousness you have an experience of time
  7. Yeah its really about learning to love and fully accept the side of you that you don't like. I used to have long bouts of anxiety and inner conflict when I was younger and then occasionally I'd get periods of time, randomly, where I'd just feel great like how you explained in your post. I didn't do anything to get there but it'd always fade whether it took days or weeks, I could never hold on to it. What I've realised now is, although it felt great I'm that state I never faced the fear of what I hated about myself and never truly accepted it as part of me. So my inner conflict was trying to 'get rid' of it or stop the thoughts. This is completely impossible, doesn't matter how much you try, in fact the more you try the more of an issue it becomes. So what really works is full acceptance of any thoughts, feelings, whatever happens in your body and mind. But also be aware you are not your thoughts and if you let them be they will just float by, but if you hold on and analyse why you're having this or that thought they will affect you.
  8. Welcome and good luck bro. A lot of what you're talking about is a shift in mindset, but you've taken the first step which is to be aware of what your specific issues are. Just as a quick tip I don't think you should try and make big sweeping changes but instead just make small changes everyday, try and improve yourself by 1% everyday. If it's meditation, start off doing 5 mins a day then build it up, things like that.
  9. @ElektriskoOk so are you saying there is something called evil that just exists external to us? Like a devil kind of thing?
  10. What exactly is the definition of evil? When I hear good and evil it always makes me think of religious morality or something that's higher than us, it's not really used as a descriptive word but some sort of overiding moral thing. For one good and evil is definitely subjective, based on your mindset, the current trends of what's acceptable in the particular era you've been brought into. For example I was watching a doc about the Spartans in Greece and it was very normal for them to be 'involved' with young boys, now then they were the highest regarded men of their time within their culture, nowadays that would be seen as the lowest. I'm not saying it's right of course but it's interesting how dramatically morality changes. For the op yes that scenario is obviously horrible, but the person committing the crime could also be seen as the victim, especially if you accept that free will is an illusion. If you were brought up in his circumstances and had his psychopath mind it's possible you too would commit that crime, the only thing that stops is a lack of his conditions and mindset, so you haven't made a choice not to do it you have different psychological traits and have had a different upbringing. So I think you can say that there are evil acts or at least what you may consider to be evil but where we go wrong as a society is by labelling someone as evil, because when you break that down what does it actually mea? I'm not religious but jesus said 'hate the sin, love the sinner', so if you can get the judgements about what is evil or good you can actually start solving problems at the route. A tough question could be if someone killed your mother, but they were fully rehabilitated within a week and you knew they were and would not commit a crime again, would you let them out of prison?
  11. Hi everyone, first post, Ive been watching Leo amongst others for a little while now and in doing my own personal work, I was always drawn to the idea of getting my own thoughts and ideas out there. It was nagging me for months but I'm glad to say Ive finally got some vids up and hopefully they can contribute or make someone think somewhere. What I did notice in doing so is that the effort of making vids is in it takes you away from your own personal work which I found very difficult to balance and I'm sure Leo would agree. Anyway as this forum is full of people on a positive journey i thought it would be the best place to post and also because i did get a lot of inspiration from Leo to actually get these ideas out there, so here we go the first video is an explanation of Oneness or the idea we are all connected, thoughts welcome -
  12. I would say as a human you'll always be aware of your ego to some extent but really it's more about realising the ego isn't your true self
  13. I try and switch it up, either a fruit and veg smoothie, eggs with bacon, mushrooms and tomatoes or what I've been trying recently, banana pancakes made with coconut flour which are great!
  14. Man that's a question, game is a whole thing in itself, in short it's a lot to do with confidence, social skills, intention and also experience. Some people have natural game in that they just naturally have those assets but you definitely can learn skills to attain them. There's loads of stuff on YouTube to learn from, I'm not into pick up too much at the moment but rsd is a good resource I think, I like them as they tie it in with a lot of self development, but as with anything take and leave what they say as you see fit. Game is an endless subject really and there's 1000s books about it, but I would say the ultimate level game is really being 100% comfortable in your skin and not being attached to results, so similar to self development as a whole
  15. I guess it could only be the ego that's selfish as it sees itself as seperate
  16. In my opinion when you're trying to be something, even if it's trying to be what you think is yourself then that's not your true self. Your true self emerges when you don't try and be anything, you give up trying. Meditation is a practice of this, it gets your brain used to be non reactive
  17. It does exist I think, but the usual form it takes is the guy initially likes the girl when he first meets but he messes up in some way, either taking to long to make his intentions clear, not having much game or being to nice in a friendship way without any kind of flirting or signs to the girl. Attraction for girls can in most cases have an expiry date, a girl will automatically reject you if she feels you have rejected her (she can think this just by you not being clear). So if this is happens your only option as a guy is the friendship aspect which doesn't mean it's completely off the table to get with her but it's not really in your hands anymore. So best thing to do is make your intentions clear from the start (not gonna go into how to do this but read up on game etc) if she rejects you then you know where you stand and maybe you may have the chance to be friends with her or not, I would choose not personally but either way you know what's going on. If she likes you then that's all good and go from there. The confusion just comes in your intentions if you're not sure then don't expect her to be
  18. @cnorhistorian I agree to a certain extent, I think ultimately enlightenment is literally accepting everything for what it is including the fact that there are no definite answers. A lot of times you can get caught in mental traps where you feel like you're working toward something or some kind of conclusion when really there is no conclusion just a continuation of the process. I like Leo's videos as he does touch on topics that are not really being discussed and whether he's getting paid or not I think it's important to put these ideas into people's consciousness even if it's just a starting point. To that extent especially if there can be some appeal in the western world as the western world probably has the least understanding of these concepts but also the most power which is obviously not working out for the planet
  19. For example, and this is something I'm struggling a little with at the moment, but say for example a thought keeps popping up in your head that you don't like. You can say to yourself I'm gonna get rid of this thought I'm gonna debate it, I'm gonna consciously ignore it, I'm gonna distract myself from it, but actually any resistance you give to it actually traps it and gives more focus to it. Whereas if you do nothing and have no resistance to it, it will eventually flow through you like a cloud. I think that's the whole point we don't actually have any control and to experience enlightenment you have to fully let go, setting goals or trying to consciously let go is really just holding on tighter
  20. It's really hard to get your head around this, in fact it's impossible because anything created in your mind is just a concept and doesn't exist, so any attempt to understand it would be an illusion. Also in a practical sense there is nothing you can do to be enlightened because by doing something in attempt to achieve something in the illusion of the future woukd specifically take you out of the present and therefore put of pure being. You can't become something you already are and technically there's not even anything to realise, because anything understood on a mental level isn't real. Most enlightened figures say that when they gave up trying is when they became enlightened. I think that's the whole point, you just need to be and let whatever comes flow through you, rather than setting some concept that if you do a,b and c it will lead to enlightenment
  21. Hey Samir, I think to an extent everyone is in the same boat, essentially we can't KNOW what are path is its more something we have to let happen and experience. What we tend to do is try and find it in our mind and think about it constantly and this actually distracts us from it. To get to you have to listen to your body, the signals that it gives, for example there maybe something in the back of your head thats niggling you to do it, could be travel, could be you want to learn something whatever. But what happens is you shut it out because of fear or self limiting expectations. To get to your path you have to get to your true self and that means facing yourself and getting past the fear, then things will become clearer. Things like meditation can help but also just being 100% honest with yourself
