And from what I understand, Gulf oil will pass under the protection of the US navy. So the prices will go down. -

@Elliott Iran's economy is already bricked due to the sanctions. Their main source of survival was the oil, through exports (as income), and for sufficient government control and management of the land. Trump probably sees this as their last lifeline. If he cuts it off, then it's over, checkmate. The life quality will degrade significantly for the average Iranian. And the regime may still function for some time, but that will eventually lead to internal problems and instability. I think Trump is counting on this. -
Not my experience. It will validate your feelings, but will keep reminding you of whatever reality you feed it. It never demonizes you. It's perfect for therapy to the extent of your honesty and awareness, but honesty and awareness are often a big part of the main issue. A human who knows you well is much much better, like a close friend or relative who's also wise. But that's rare.

The biggest chunk of its exports go to China through the strait, oil and otherwise. -
I suggest reading Atomic Habits by James Clear. He talks about this specific question in a great way and from different angles. The formula is simple: You define your goals. You set mini steps. Follow through mini steps consistently. After a while, momentum gets created, things get easier, and it becomes hard to fall back to older patterns. After about two months, the desired habits become your default identity.

Maybe. But Iran would suffer immensely from the blockade. It would be the same as striking their power plants, but without actually striking them. He's trying to force economic collapse. That's supposed to bring the regime down on its knees and get regime supporters motivated to at least let go of support. We'll see. -

So now it seems that Trump is out of options. He cannot continue the war because he doesn't want to lose the mid terms, and he cannot accept Iran's terms because it makes his entire war look stupid. So probably he decided to punish the world for not helping him open the strait. Reasonable move since NATO acted very passively towards the cause. And China will have to pay too for helping Iran. This will also redirect the global oil supply chain more towards the USA. The biggest concern I guess is for the Gulf states as that will decrease demand for their oil. But we'll see what happens after the ceasefire is over without an agreement. -
You are right. Have a good day.

Really, there is no one. There's just The One.

@Shermaningeorgia The answer isn't for me, it's for you. Personally, I think you are a good person. You are living by standards of your own choosing. That's rare, and it's good.
-
It's a very simple question. What do you think about yourself? Are you a good person or a bad person?
-
What is this? What's the purpose of it all? I have no free will. It's a program running on its own, and I am at the center. Like a interactive movie where I'm the main character. 30 human years, and so far, it's been tragedy/comedy. I don't choose what or who I love. It's all in the script. Nobody chooses their God. At the same time, change is possible. Behaviour can change with time and repetition. But behaviour is an appearance, not the truth. The truth is what I love. And appearance is what I need.

Spirituality = Emotional Philosophy It's the kind of philosophy that's built based on feeling and intuition rather than logic or the mind. It's the study of what makes life alive. -

Well, me neither. But reality doesn't work on pure logic. Power and politics are not logical. Last time I checked, the mistake was due to outdated intelligence data. It was not intentional. You can call it careless, but it's not intentional like Iran's attacks. -

@Elliott I don't even disagree with you or most of what you said. But you can't really compare USA with Iran. Sure, they may share some similarities, but they are so far apart on the level of freedom and extremity. -

@Elliott USA is not radical nor extremist. But I get your point about the double standard. -
Jirh replied to Husseinisdoingfine's topic in Society, Politics, Government, Environment, Current Events
Exactly. Long range ballistic missiles are an offensive weapon, not defensive. Iran is a threat to the entire world, because of its radical extremist ideology. -
Jirh replied to Husseinisdoingfine's topic in Society, Politics, Government, Environment, Current Events
A proper response would be targeting and attacking the source of the attacks, like military bases and airfields and aircraft carriers. And that's not far from the Iranian capabilities. But it's too direct and too risky for them, and they are cowards. The focus should only and solely be on those military targets. Anything else is terrorism and cowardice. It's clear that Iran's strategy is mainly terrorism against civilian infrastructure while they sprinkle some missiles on military targets. They were forced into war, and they chose war of attrition because it's their best chance at surviving. It's understandable, as terrorism, and never justifiable. Nuclear threat may be a fake front, but the ballistic threat is real. We are experiencing it in real time. Why does Iran need long range ballistic missiles? For what defensive purposes exactly? You can say the same about Israel. I have no problem with that. It's just as terrible. -

Ceasefire. -
Jirh replied to Husseinisdoingfine's topic in Society, Politics, Government, Environment, Current Events
It's not self-defence when you attack civilian locations, civilian airports, civilian oil tankers, etc... Self-defence is attacking aircraft carriers, USA military bases, Israeli airfields, etc... -

When you say survival instinct, you make it sound like an innocent unconscious reaction, like a knee jerk reaction if a tiger jumps on you and you have no will or choice but to react. But clearly this way of responding is the Iranian regime's conscious choice after much thinking, and they are still choosing to keep this terrorist act every day. Ultimately the goal is to eliminate Iran's projection of power outside its borders. Why now? Because it's perceived as the best time to do it. Who's the terrorist? All of them. But at this particular point in time, Iran is terrorizing the entire world. -
Jirh replied to Husseinisdoingfine's topic in Society, Politics, Government, Environment, Current Events
Actually, most of the Western media that I've seen so far is against the war, whether pro Trump or against him. And this is the direct result of the terrorist closure of the strait of Hormuz. The Iranian regime has no way of defending itself except by pressuring Trump through causing a global economic disaster. And as I said, most people have nothing to do with the war. However, we are suffering its consequences caused by Iran. -

One thing for sure is that Iran is not winning. It's getting destroyed systematically. And even though it's dealing "unacceptable damage" to the US and Israel and the world, that's no going to affect the route that has been already drawn. And holding the world's economy hostage and attacking the infrastructure of gulf states is not a valid response to war, under any circumstances. It's literally terrorism. Most of us had nothing to do with the war, and yet it's affecting each and every one of us. We are hurting because of Iran, not the USA or Israel. The iranian regime is dying and it wants to kill everyone with it. Suicidal bombers. That's who they are. Terrorists. And after seeing this, I would definitely rather see them destroyed than having nukes and threatening the globe.
