  1. @Leo Gura Lions do not have industrialized complexes where mass torture is committed on an incomprehensible scale, nor do they have alternative options. Humans are supposed to be the civilized ones, and we don't have any excuse whatsoever to behave this way. It is pure stupidity and myopia. Any advanced civilization will be vegan.
  2. It's just a way of grooving with the world. You're free to do anything.
  3. Eating meat is extremely stupid from a spiritual point of view. Just imagine all the concentrated energies of fear and torture that you put in your body. And then you wonder why you're so neurotic.
  4. Warning video contains stupidity of unimaginable scale.
  5. These experiences can be very reality shattering, particularly if you're unable to contextualize them. Serious and prolonged meditation practice is a way to ground yourself.
  6. No, you are 100% correct. Our society just trained us to think these must necessarily exclude one another.
  7. Because the ego enjoys unconscious, hedonic experiences, and that includes unhealthy food. If you're really aware at the peak of heightened consciousness, even an apple will taste divine.
  8. I could do it easily as a kid. Can't do it anymore as an adult, but it's probably something you can train.
  9. @Opo Heh. Have you studied formal mathematical and computational logic? I have. The argument that somehow only stupid people are skeptical about vaccines cracks me up.
  10. Put your eyes out of focus and stare at the edge of things.
  11. Always funny when people try to claim freedom by taking away your freedom. I'm with @Clint Eastwood and George Carlin on this one.
  12. Eh, I don't think you need research for realizing that psychedelics have very real risks. Consider just the possibility of a horrifically bad trip on something really strong. I don't care who or what you are, you're gonna bear that burden for the rest of your life because it will literally be the most horrible thing you ever experienced. I was just watching this clip yesterday, and I was thinking, fuck if this started happening to me I'd be in some serious trouble And yes it's a cartoonified version (I mean, literally), but it's surprisingly spot on. If this kind of trip starts happening to you it's gonna be literally the most damaging experience of your life, and that shit will leave psychological scars that nothing will ever heal again. Not saying that trips have to be this way, if you prepare correctly you minimize a lot of risk (but never all, I'm sorry but there's no such thing as 100% safe psychedelic usage, these are not tomatoes so maybe let's stop treating them as such). The way some of you are promoting psychedelics is bound to lead to misuse somewhere down the road. It's said that psychedelics find you, you don't find them, and probably for a good reason.
  13. Psychedelics aren't useless, but they will never enlighten you. They offer a taste of the mystical, but that's all it is - a taste. If you want the full thing you're gonna have to do the impossible and let go of your ego and your attachments.
  14. Because they're dumb. Jokes aside, what else is there to do? Not practice? You're free to live your life however you want. Spirituality is just a way of digging and grooving with the universe. Some of us just dig that vibe.
  15. Enlightenment isn't like anything else in your life. It transcends every single thing you know or think you know about reality, it's impossible to achieve it for this reason, it would be like trying to drink the ocean, or move the Earth with your hands, or some similar impossible feat like this. If this doesn't make any sense, it's because enlightenment doesn't make any sense. Enlightenment is the direct perception of your divine and infinite nature.
  16. You know when a master sees a person all they see is Shiva doing some form of magical dancing around, that's why they usually chuckle, they find it amusing. So you're like that, you're this ego pretending to be very serious about enlightenment, jumping around and doing all these complex dance moves, because you think something, somewhere, somehow is going to enlighten you and then you'll be fine. The funny thing about this is that you can always just stop doing the dance and see, hey, here it is. Here is enlightenment. Here is what I've been searching for. And I'm not above this. I have the exact same problems. We all do. We're all dancing around, huffing and puffing for no reason whatsoever. It's funny.
  17. It's impossible to the ego. But you, the real you, the unbounded you - you're perfectly capable of it. In fact you are it, and there's nothing to get.
  18. A master came by when a novice was meditating. He asked the student, "what are you doing?" The novice replied, "I am meditating in order that I become a Buddha". The master picked up a brick that was lying on the floor, sat down and started rubbing it with a piece of cloth. Seeing this, the novice got curious and inquired the master about it. "What are you doing?" he said. "I am polishing this brick in order that it becomes a mirror", the master replied. The novice, confused, responded instantly. "By no amount of polishing will you turn this brick into a mirror!" The master, smiling, responded "by no amount of meditation will you become a Buddha." This is a famous koan that touches on this issue. You need let go of your desires, even the desires about letting go of your desires, and only then can you understand the truth. No amount of doing, or not doing will get you enlightened, that's what makes it a mindfuck and you have to appreciate this fact rather than oppose it.
  19. Yes, CO2 is the scapegoat. It may turn out to be a massive problem, but I think we should look at our behavior in a holistic way because nothing can change unless we collectively fundamentally change our behavior.
  20. I'm not even for a second claiming we don't have problems to solve. Like I said in the other thread about climate, maybe we should haul all the plastic out of the oceans before we start acting like we care about the environment.
  21. @TheAlchemist That's not accurate because errors propagate through any such model and accumulate until your data becomes virtually useless. It's actually infinitely easier to accurately predict weather on a short timescale, than make conclusive predictions about climate in the long term. And measurement is another massive problem that you're probably not aware of. See this video for a great explanation of just how in the dark we really are when it comes to even measuring the surface temperature of Earth with any degree of accuracy at all. My personal take is that climate change is a problem, but it's been massively and needlessly amplified by the media hype train. We will get over it. We got over WW2 and the cold war. Ponder that for a second.
